I am pleased again to say we hae a date for 40 members to visit the Farnborough Wind Tunnels and FAST museum.
We will visit in two groups - to manage numbers - alternatiting between the 2 locations. Conveniently there is a pub close by so we can grab some lunch.
The exclusive tour of the historic Wind Tunnels at Farnborough. These remarkable buildings, saved from demolition, were at the forefront of aerodynamic research from the 1930s until 1994. Led by knowledgeable volunteers, this tour offers a close look at two of the remaining tunnels and provides insight into their varied history and impressive construction. Learn about the critical research conducted during and after WWII, as well as the advancements made in the supersonic jet age.
The tour includes an introductory talk, a visit to the low turbulence wind tunnel and the magnificent 24 Foot Wind Tunnel, and a walk to the remains of the Sea Plane Tank. Don't miss this opportunity to explore these iconic structures and gain a deeper understanding of their significance.
The FAST Museum adjacent to Farnborough airfield holds a collection of aircraft (actual and model), satellites, simulators and other unique material related to Farnborough’s world famous Royal Aircraft Establishment. FAST also offers exclusive guided tours of areas of Farnborough’s historic aviation quarter not normally open to the public.
Costs approcx £35 per person - payable on the day.
