Thruxton Experience Saturday 10th August 2019 (as at 20190506 all places are allocated, however a small reserve list has been started)
The region has negotiated an excellent experience package with Thruxton Circuit in Wiltshire for Saturday 10 August 2019.
The day will start with a morning session on the Skid Pan where we will have exclusive use of the facility for 4 hours from 0900-1300. They will provide the cars with a choice of a front wheel drive Mini Cooper or a rear wheel drive Toyota GT86. Should participants wish they can use their own cars and that would be in the last hour of the session.
There is a dedicated classroom overlooking the skid pan with a free coffee machine and toilets. The circuit cafe is only 100m away if required.
Registration would commence at 0830 and a current Photo driving licence is required. Insurance is part of the package unless driving one’s own car where that is an individual responsibility. No helmets or driving aids are required.
There would then be a 1300-1400 Break for lunch and Registration for the afternoon track session. Lunch and Registration take place in the new Thruxton Centre where we will have our own cordoned off area with access to the first floor balcony.
The afternoon session will start at 1400 with the drivers’ safety briefing before we are split into 2 groups of 8. On offer are 2 car options:
Option One is A Renault single seater Racing Car Driving Experience comprising 3 laps in a Skoda saloon with an instructor driving to learn the circuit, 3 laps in a Cayman as driver, 5 laps in a Formula Renault as driver and finally 1 fast lap as a passenger in a Skoda Octavia vRS: - total of 28.8 miles. Helmets and suits are provided but participants can use their own if in date. Thruxton have a good fleet of single seater cars including 2 wide body cars for the larger or longer driver.
Option Two is a Cayman One 2 One Driving Experience comprising 2 laps in a Skoda saloon with an instructor driving to learn the circuit, 4 laps in a Cayman as driver, a break then finally 5 further laps in a Cayman as a driver: - a total of 26.4 miles. No helmets or driving aids are needed. Thruxton has 3 PDK cars and 6 manual cars.
For this event to go ahead we are aiming for 16 participants. The cost of the inclusive package is £164 per person (although it is possible to split the day between couples with one doing the morning and the other the afternoon).
To indicate your interest please email the region and you will be told how to make cheque payment (cheques will be payable to PCGB).
