DRIVE AND LUNCH TO RENEGADE BREWERY
We met at Winchester on 25 May, with a convoy of around 15 cars setting off across Hampshire to our first coffee stop at Houghton Lodge Garden Café. We then headed to Stockbridge, then east along the old A30 before passing through Micheldever, Overton and the pretty rural villages north of Basingstoke to end up in Yattendon at this popular venue where we had booked an outside area for lunch. Thanks to Mick Chappell for spotting the A34 snarl-up and guiding us through Winchester city centre.
Magnificent PCGB display at Simply Porsche Beaulieu
SIMPLY PORSCHE BEAULIEU
Another beautiful day for this great event on 2 June at the prestigious National Motor Museum and the largest group of PCGB cars yet, with no less than 13 Regions represented! It took a lot of organising, but with support of Siobhan and Tim Harkness, the three metre Club marquee and the liveried PCGB van, we put on a splendid show with close to 200 display cars, as well as talking to a constant stream of potential members from the 1000 plus Porsches at the event.

CLUB NIGHT
A cool, damp evening kept numbers down for our mid-summer ‘my-other-car’ night on 4 June at the Seven Stars near Petersfield. Nevertheless, some splendid cars came out of their garages for the evening including a new Ferrari 296, a drophead E-Type, an Aston Martin Vantage 59, and new member Rob Ismay in a beautiful Austin Healey 3000, with his son in an MGB GT. Another highlight was Brian Farminer’s bonkers ex-works M-Sport Rally Fiesta. Running on synthetic 102 octane fuel, Brian treated a few of us to a blast up the road – an amazing experience!
Porsches at rest after a long day in Dordogne
LOIRE AND DORDOGNE TOTY
Twenty-one Porsches met on 6 June at Portsmouth for a 10-day ‘Tour of the Year’ to France. Landing at Ouistreham on the 80th anniversary of D-Day meant some detours, but we all arrived safely for the first night at a delightful Logis Hotel near Rennes with a first-night dinner for all. Next day, the majority headed for a memorable guided tour of the Museum of 24 Heures Le Mans before heading south to Saumur for the second night. Some superb cross-country roads were then followed south, towards our next hotel for five nights in Sarlat-le-Canada in the beautiful Dordogne valley. We were spoilt for choice of chateaux and activities over the following few days, with one highlight being a convoy to the cliffside village of Rocamadour. Other intrepid members took kayaks down the river.
R17 at Sarlat-le-Caneda in Dordogne
The final two nights of our tour were spent in the ancient city of Amboise on the Loire. We managed to book a local restaurant for forty people for a last celebratory meal together before departing for the ferry the next morning, after a truly enjoyable R17 trip.
