Our September Sunday Run started from Kellockbank Country Emporium at Insch, where we gathered for coffee and bacon rolls. Again we were lucky with the weather, and sunglasses were much in evidence.
12 cars set off towards the coast, taking quiet roads to Portsoy and Cullen, where Elaine & Syd stopped off for ice cream before heading back. The rest then carried on via Fochabers to Elgin, and the Moray Motor Museum. This is a small but very fine collection of vehicles with something for everyone, from sporting Jaguars & Jensens, to single-seat racers, motorcycles and bubble cars. Our guide, Mark, was very knowledgeable and happy to chat about the exhibits. He even suggested that on a future visit, we might get a peek at the basement where the “other” vehicles are kept. Well worth a look if you're in the area.
From Elgin we made our way to the Cawdor Tavern and packed the car park with Porsches -and Alan & Marie's lovely Bentley- before enjoying lunch.
The run home was left to personal choice, but as the weather was so good quite a few of us took the high route via Grantown and the Lecht, which was spectacular and delightfully short of traffic.
The monthly Sunday Runs seem to have been quite successful and will continue, but as they're planned month by month you need to be on the email list to find out about them in advance. If you don't get emails from me please ask to be added to the list by sending a note to r2@porscheclubgb.com. If any of you have a favourite route and a little bit of time to make up a trip, please get in touch!
