Join our northern contingent, R2 Highland, on their Loch Ness Run on Sunday 20 July for a fantastic and varied group drive around some interesting roads near Loch Ness. The roads will include some sweeping bends, steep climbs, tight bends and most of all superb views and great scenery.
The day starts at 9:30am at Fairways Leisure centre, Fairways Business Park, Slackbuie Ave, Inverness IV2 6AA for a 10am departure.
The route takes us down the distributor road and across the canal to join the A82 towards Ft Augustus. At Invermorriston we turn right heading towards Skye on the A887, following this road until we reach the left turn to Invergarry on the A87. Climbing up and over the hill where hopefully we can stop at one of the view points to take in the vista up Glen Garry.
Continuing down the hill we rejoin the A82 but this time heading north towards Ft Augustus where we will have lunch (Approx 1hr). There may be an opportunity for those that wish to take a trip on the Loch Ness cruise boat, alternatively there are some nice cafés and bars for lunch.
After lunch we take the top road and stop at the viewpoint for photos, then continue on the B862 to Whitebridge. Approx 1 mile beyond Whitebridge there is a left turn down to Foyers (this is a single track road with passing places) which we will follow to Dores where we will stop for refreshments and perhaps a walk along the beach. From Dores we will return to Inverness where our run will end.
