Ever wondered how dogs become Guide Dogs?
We have an exciting opportunity for a mid-week visit the Guide Dogs Regional Centre (Scotland) in Forfar to learn more about these wonderful animals and how they are trained.
Guide Dogs is the world's largest assistance dog organisation and the only organisation to breed and train guide dogs in the UK. They are the UK’s leading sight loss charitiy and have five regional centres and together they train over 1000 new guide dogs each year.
Join us for a behind-the-scenes experience - an unmissable opportunity to explore the fascinating journey of a guide dog from the very beginning. You will see some of our incredible dogs in training as they learn the skills needed to become future life-changers.
During the experience, you will be placed into small groups and guided around the state-of-the-art facility by our knowledgeable team of volunteers who will be able to share with you the secrets of our life-changing dogs. You’ll also discover fascinating information about the important work of the charity – which enables people who are visually impaired to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
The tour will last approximately two hours and will include:
- A tour by expert guides
- Viewing of our Guide Dogs in training
- A sensory experience and a chance to walk with mobility aids
- A demonstration of guide dog equipment such as harnesses
- A visit to our gift shop for that memorable souvenir of your visit
- Teas & coffee will be provided at the end of the tour
The visit will take place on Wednesday August 13th at the Guide dogs Regional Centre Scotland, Dean Way, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar, DD8 1WG.
The Visitor Experience begins at 2pm and lasts approximately 2 hours. The price of this experience is £16 per person and requires to be paid when booking. It is also non-refundable.
