25 August 2024

Charity FundraiserMember event

Join R2 for a day of Porsche history and family-friendly fun in support of the Urological CANcer Charity on 25 August at Kippie Lodge, Milltimber, Aberdeen.

The Event
Kippie Lodge have made the Front Lawn, the Conservatory, and the Greenhouse Bistro available to PCGB Members with friends and family. There will be an optional BBQ, payable on the day.

We will be displaying a range of member's Porsche vehicles on the Front Lawn in a History of Porsche exhibit. Ideally, we would like to attract as diverse a range of Porsche models as possible - from Tractors to GT3's to EV's

To close the event, there will be a prize draw, so if you would like to participate, please bring some cash on the day.

The Venue
Kippie Lodge, AB13 0AB, is easily accessible from the A90 Aberdeen bypass at the Deeside (A93) junction. Full details available on their website. Please note that dogs and other pets are not permitted at the venue.

How you can help
The most important thing you can do to help is to come to Kippie Lodge on the day and enjoy the event. UCAN will have representatives there to assist the R2 organisers, members, their friends and their families to discuss the Charity and all the great works that it has done and continues to do. Raising awareness of Urinary Cancer is just as important a part of this Event as the fundraising.

Fundraising donations to UCAN will be collected online through the dedicated Just Giving page. The whole donation amount goes directly to UCAN. If you are a UK tax payer, there is an option to add Gift Aid to your donation at no extra cost or effort. There is also an option to add a tip for the Just Giving platform for managing the donation process, which we recommend to be around 5% (e.g. £1.50 tip for a £30 donation). If you would like to donate using your phone, you can scan this QR code:

Sponsorship for the souvenir programme that we will produce for the event and items for the Prize Draw would be greatly appreciated as well. If you can contribute in any of these ways, please get in touch with Hamish, Ian and Steve at r2@porscheclubgb.com.

The Charity
UCAN is a Urological CANcer Charity which was launched in 2005 by two consultant urological surgeons based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI). UCAN’s purpose is to partner with the Urology Services in making Aberdeen an International Centre of Excellence for Urological Cancer treatment, care and research.

UCAN’s ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life for people and families affected by urological cancers in the North of Scotland.

Among many achievements to date, UCAN has:

  • Raised awareness of Urinary cancer though organised public events and in business with employee health initiatives,
  • Provided a Drop in Support Centre at ARI for patients and family,
  • Funded the first robotic Surgery unit in Scotland and associated training.

Full details of what UCAN has achieved to date, and is currently striving to achieve, can be seen on UCAN’s website.

UCAN’s current funding drive is to raise £2.5M by the end of 2024 to fund the establishment of a Rapid Diagnostic Centre at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Fundraising started earlier this year, with £400K already raised.

Sign up in the usual way below to express your interest in this event and be kept up to date with the details.  Please also complete the online Charity Event Registration Form where you will be requested to provide details of your Porsche and the numbers of family and friends who may also be attending with you.  If you are able to bring more than one Porsche, please fill in separate forms for each one.  The form also includes the menu and pricing for the Kippie barbecue.

The lawn area has parking for up to 40 cars so please register asap so that you can be allocated a space here.  Note that forms must be completed by 8th of August to be included in the printed programme.

Looking forward to seeing you all at Kippie,
Hamish and Steve on behalf of the R2 Pit Crew, in collaboration with Ian Thow
