We will leave the UK on Wednesday 17th Sept 2025 and cross to France that same day. Arrive Angouleme Friday 19th. Leave there Monday 22nd. Last night in France Tuesday 23rd. Tunnel crossing back next day 24th, and drive home.

Every September, the pretty French hilltop town of Angoulême is filled with classic car racing enthusiasts for the Historique Circuit des Remparts, a weekend long event which sees classic cars thrashing around the ancient and twisting roads in the heart of the town itself!

With exhibitions, displays and many bars and restaurants amongst the narrow-cobbled streets, it’s a fabulous destination event after a leisurely 450-mile two-day drive from Calais.

Co-ordinated by R5, but with your direct booking with Scenic Car Tours, we will start with a Eurotunnel Channel crossing early on Thursday morning, arriving in Angoulême on the Friday in time for the night-time Concours d’Elegance; on Saturday you can join (at extra cost) or view the historic car rally or just spend the day wandering and taking in the atmosphere; you can watch the racing from grandstand seats on the Sunday, and then start for home the next day.

Alternatively, you might want to extend your French stay with a Champagne tour or a tour of Bordeaux or the Dordogne – that’s up to you. The options are limitless!
Prices are estimated as below, for which we will receive the following:

• Return Eurotunnel crossing from Folkestone to Calais;
• Thursday night at the Ibis Hotel, Le Mans - outbound journey;
• Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at the Ibis Nord (10 minutes drive to town) £781 per person (two sharing) or £1,194 travelling solo, or Appart'City Hotel, Angoulême £881 per person (two sharing) or £1,389 travelling solo, or Hotel Domaine du Chatelard (seven miles from town) £1,081 per person (two sharing) or £1,734 travelling solo.
• Monday night at the Novotel la Source, Orleans - return journey;
• Buffet breakfast each morning and two evening meals in Angoulême;
• Grandstand tickets and paddock passes for Sunday racing;

The number of hotels in the Angoulême area is extremely limited, so early booking confirmation is important.
