The Lancashire and Cumbria Region (R18) covers a very large geographic area. To enable members to meet up regularly throughout the Region we hold two monthly meetings every month. In the Lancashire area we hold our meetings at Garstang Golf & Country Club on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, starting at 20.00 hours where around 40 members regularly attend. Garstang Golf Club is about 5 miles north of Preston just off the A6. Often at these meetings we have a speaker or hold a quiz or run a fun event. Wives and partners are very welcome, and we provide free sandwiches each evening. Due to the large area of Cumbria, and the lack of direct main road routes across the county, monthly meetings are held at different pubs on the second Tuesday of the month, starting at 19.30 hours.
In addition to these meetings we have an extensive calendar of events including attendance at various Classic Car Shows throughout the Region, drives and lunches, attendance at race meetings at Oulton Park and Croft, Circuits, track days at Oulton Park and Angelsey. We hold joint meetings with other motor clubs such as TVR, Jaguar, and Kirkby Lonsdale Motor Club, and often join other adjacent Regions such as North West, North Wales and North East at their events. In 2014 we had a inaugural weekend away in Carlisle with Scotland North, Scotland South, North East, Yorkshire, North West and North Wales Regions. This continues as a regular event.
The main driving event is ‘Porkers in the Trough’ which is a scenic drive starting at Garstang Golf Club and going through the Trough of Bowland stopping for lunch at an interesting stately home or other attraction, before returning to Garstang Golf Club for prize giving and a meal. Members from Scotland, North East, Yorkshire and North Wales join us with numbers of Porsches often reaching 80.
We aim to keep members in the Region updated through our monthly email newsletter as well as provide regular updates on our forum pages.
