Our drive in April saw us host a number of members from the 991 and 992 Registers as part of their visit to Northern Ireland. We saw some of the best weather of the year so far together with one of largest turnouts with just over 50 of our members in 30 cars in attendance.
A visit to The Giant's Causeway was a must for the visiting Registers
With Ken Mack and David Dunlop having met our visitors earlier in the morning at The Giant’s Causeway, due to their early ferry arrival, the first drive section from Antrim was led by me, with some assistance from Gary Haddock and Richard Sobey, who ensured all the cars were kept together from the back. After a quick re-group in Bushmills, we made a return visit to The Royal Court Hotel in Portrush for an enjoyable lunch.

The second and final drive section, led by Ken Mack, saw Region members join the visitor cars for a visit to the spectacular Gortmore View Point and onto Londonderry/Derry. On crossing the Foyle Bridge, we waved goodbye to them as they made their way to their next overnight stop in Letterkenny. Some members then opted for a final coffee stop in Portstewart to round off the day and to enjoy the last of the evening sunshine before heading for home.

We would also like to make members aware that Team R27 member Tina Lannin has recently decided to step down from her role. Ken and I would both like to take this opportunity to thank her for her contribution to the Region and for the social media output over the last 18 months or so.
At time of reading, I hope many of you will have enjoyed my Co. Armagh drive only a few days ago (with this taking place on Saturday 18 May) – there will of course be more on this in the next issue. This takes us into June, which will be an event filled month with things kicking off with our joint event with Porsche Club Ireland on Sunday 2 June. The following weekend (Saturday 8 June) will see us making a return to Stormont for our ‘Festival of Porsche’ as part of the Dollingstown Classic Car Club show once again. There will also be an option for a limited number of members to display cars as part of the Cultra Hill Climb event on this day and details of this will follow in due course. Finally, on the Sunday (9 June) we are planning to attend part of the DeLorean Revival Event in Belfast giving us rare access to the original DeLorean test track, which some members will have driven around at a past event back in August 2017.
Just to make mention of the revised 2024 events cards once again – if you are yet to received one of these, please speak to myself or Ken to obtain yours. That is about it for this month, and we hope to see you all soon and, in the meantime, safe driving everyone!
