Ian Parker

Former Centre Principal, Parker & Parker, Porsche Centre South Lakes

Appointed by the importers AFN, Parker & Parker was the first ever Porsche dealer in the UK.
Ian Parker took over the Porsche division of the family-owned business in the middle of the 1980s and was at the helm during some of the centre’s most significant periods in its long history, particularly when, in 1997, Parker & Parker became an exclusive Porsche dealership.

From the team at Porsche Centre South Lakes:

“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Ian Parker, who passed away peacefully on Thursday [2nd April].

Ian was not only a deeply respected figure within our business and the Porsche world, but also a person who left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His work ethic, strength of character, and unwavering care for others helped shape the values that define us today.

As a father, mentor, and friend, Ian’s influence extended far beyond the workplace. Through his guidance, leadership, and quiet example, he played a significant role in building both our Centre and the people within it. His legacy is one of integrity, resilience, and genuine kindness.

Even in the face of illness, Ian showed remarkable courage and selflessness, continuing to embrace life fully following his diagnosis in 2019. The admiration and respect so many hold for him are a true reflection of the extraordinary person he was.

We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to the NHS, Macmillan, and St John’s Hospice for the exceptional care and support they provided.

Our thoughts are with Simon and the entire Parker family during this incredibly difficult time.

Ian will be deeply missed but never forgotten."

Ian was 74, and is survived by wife Helen and son Simon. The funeral is 27th April, 2 pm at Beetham Crematorium and afterwards at Crooklands Hotel.  Donations to MacMillan Cancer Care and St John’s Hospice Lancaster. The firm will match any donations.

From Cumbria and South-West Scotland Regional Organiser Mike Trotter:

"Ian, along with the Parker family, have been closely involved with Porsche Club since its inception. Their support over the years, particularly across Cumbria and Lancashire has been invaluable, and they have played a significant role in many of our events in the North of England.

Ian and his family have supported me, in my role as a Club official since 2007 where we worked as a partnership to highlight the Porsche brand and Porsche Club across our region. Ian and his family have been fully supportive of PCGB over the years which is a testament to his character."

It was a privilege to have known Ian for many years as I was first aware of the Parker Family from the early '80's when I was Parts Manager of rivals Ian Anthony. Later as Register Director and Motorsport Director and MS Chairman of PCGB, I was involved with the many events at Kendal & South Lakes. Ian and I had many conversations about our history in the motor trade, he will be sadly missed.
