It is with great sadness we announce the passing of former Club Chairman and Honorary Club member Barry Smith.
Barry’s death was announced by his son on Sunday, 15 December.
This a moment in life that I never wanted… unfortunately today a hero and highly respected man left us all at 10.30 this morning. Leaving a very loving wife who walked every mile to support him after suffering for 4 years with cancer, myself and very close friends and family have done everything to support him and “you” all know who you are.
Barry would thank you all from the bottom of his heart for helping supporting and sharing life with him on a 72yr journey. Raise a glass or catch a fish but make a memory dear to you for a man that left many a smiling face.
Prior to moving to Spain, Barry was an active member of the Club, volunteering as Register Secretary for the 930 Turbo SE Slantnose Register, supporting his local Region, R18 and serving on the Board and leading the Club as Chairman in 2011.
Barry was instrumental in creating the Club’s displays at Autosport International and Silverstone Classic, securing legendary cars from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.
