We are saddened to announce the death of Honorary Club member Ian Heward. A former racing driver in both the BTCC and Britcar, Ian was also an enthusiastic supporter of the Club, sponsoring events such as the Cotswold Rally from 2003 until 2010 and also the Manx Tour from 2002 to this year. For his many years of supporting the Club, Ian was made an honorary member in 2011.
Ian was always happy to help Club members with mechanical advice advice and held the role of Technical Assistant for the Modified Register for the last 10 years, passing on the knowledge gained from being both a racing driver and constructor. A tribute from Des Sturdee and Ralph Forster within their Register report this issue.
Paul Seagrave, Porsche Club Motorsport Chairman writes “I first got to know Ian through Regional events including a fantastic trip to the Nürburgring which he was heavily involved with. Ian had a long history of competing in motorsport which led to his business PorscheShop becoming a long term sponsor of the Porsche Club Championship.
“Ian was always very supportive of Club events and was true enthusiast who always turned up in some interesting cars to our events. He would always come over to speak to me whatever the event, wherever it was and always had words of encouragement. He will be sadly missed by the Porsche Club Community.”
