Last weekend, Club partners Collecting Cars sold a remarkable private collection from Scotland dubbed ‘The Apex Collection’. With a 100% sale rate, including some of the most sought-after Porsche 911s ever built, the auctions generated just over £1.88m for the owner in a special seven-day event – and of course, there were zero seller fees for them in doing so.
The Apex Collection brought together some of the most coveted driver’s cars of the last four decades, from ‘fast Ford’ icons of the 1980s through to the very latest track-honed Porsche RS models.

The top sale result was the 1998 Porsche 993 Turbo S. One of only 26 right-hand-drive cars, finished in rare Cobalt Blue, and with just 29,225 miles from new; it attracted an incredible bidding war, rocketing nearly 15% over its reserve to a hammer price of £401,500. This was followed by the 2018 Porsche 991 GT2 RS Weissach Pack, which had covered just 609 miles and remained in pristine condition. It sold with a winning bid of £297,500.

This auction event once again showed the significant impact that rare specifications and proven low mileage can have on the right car. The 1992 Porsche 964 Turbo 3.3 had covered just 12,468 miles from new, and was presented in the original Rubystone factory colour. It was fresh from a service at Porsche Centre Aberdeen in 2024, and had covered only a few hundred miles since being fitted with new heat exchangers, rear shock absorbers, rear wheel bearings, and auxiliary drive belts. After 88 bids it sold for £230,500, exceeding its reserve price by an incredible 35%.

Among the other rarities in the collection were a low-mileage 2003 Porsche 996 GT2 that sold for £83,500; a high-specification 2005 Porsche 996 Turbo S, one of just 80 UK-delivered cars with the manual gearbox that sold for £68,500 and a 33,000-mile 2005 Renault Clio V6 Phase 2 that sold for £42,600.
Of the 19 cars in The Apex Collection, the top five results were all Porsches!

The Apex Collection captured the spirit of analogue driving, motorsport heritage, and modern performance. In total, more than 970 bids were placed across the auction lots, with an average hammer price of just over £94,000. Cars were sold not just to the UK but also to Ireland, Germany, and Australia.
