Macan Register raises funds for Great Western Air Ambulance

The Macan Register raised £500 for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity.

The Porsche Club GB Macan Register recently held a special fundraising event in support of the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC), an essential service that provides life-saving critical care across the region.

The event was inspired by Porsche Club GB member and Macan owner Barry Dennington, who experienced the vital role of Helicopter Emergency Medical Services first-hand while volunteering as a Community First Responder during a cardiac arrest call-out.

A total of 22 Porsche Club members and 11 Macans gathered at The Kingsley Café in Eynsham before setting off on a scenic drive through the picturesque Cotswolds, ultimately arriving at the GWAAC base in Almondsbury, near Bristol.

At the base, members spent two informative hours learning about the charity’s critical work. The visit included a detailed helicopter presentation and an engaging Q&A session with GWAAC's highly trained team—comprising doctors, specialist critical care paramedics, the on-duty pilot, and charity staff. Fortunately, the helicopter and vehicles remained on base during the visit, with no call-outs during the event.

A highlight of the day was the presentation of a £500 donation to GWAAC, raised through contributions and a raffle that featured a Porsche Macan EV scale model generously donated by Dick Lovett Porsche Swindon.

About the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC)

GWAAC provides a critical care and air ambulance service for over 2.1 million people across Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset, and parts of Wiltshire.

The charity’s Critical Care Team includes experienced doctors, advanced practitioners, and specialist paramedics in critical care. Together, they deliver the expertise and technology of a hospital emergency department directly to the scene of medical emergencies.

In 2024, GWAAC experienced its busiest year on record, responding to 2,272 patients in need—more than six critical incidents every day. Each mission costs the charity approximately £2,200.

Despite the essential nature of their work, GWAAC receives no regular government or National Lottery funding and must raise over £4 million annually to stay operational.

Emma Fawcett, Supporter Engagement Coordinator for GWAAC said: “We were delighted to host the Porsche Club GB Macan group at our Almondsbury Airbase and share what we do operationally. We were so grateful for the wonderful fundraising of £500 which will help us continue to save lives in our local community.

A Heartfelt Thank You

The Porsche Club GB Macan Register extends sincere thanks to the entire GWAAC team for their hospitality and for the incredible service they provide to the community.
