Thanks to Porsche Cars Great Britain, for the fourth consecutive year, Club members were once again able to enjoy display parking at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Within hours of the complimentary parking passes being announced, all 250 of the Thursday passes had been claimed, shortly followed by the Friday places, highlighting the popularity of this fantastic member benefit.
Each morning before the gates had even officially opened the first Porsches were already rolling in, with Club members equal parts excited to be displaying their pride and joy and grateful to be able to park so close to the main event. A small but dedicated team of volunteers were on hand to welcome everyone and guide them into the appropriate area, with designated Register sections and special clusters of transaxle and air-cooled models parked closest to the Porsche stand.
For many visitors to the Festival, this was the first opportunity to see the new 911 Carrera, in a beautiful PTS Luguno Blue, as well as the new all-electric Macan Turbo, the new Cayenne GTS and also the Taycan Turbo GT. The naturally aspirated 911 S/T also made it’s Goodwood debut and each day was joined by a multitude of similar Weissach models owned by Club members.
The Festival of Speed is often described as the world’s largest automotive garden party, and this year that theme extended out to the ‘House of Porsche’ with a luxury garden inspired display. A DJ booth next to the Taycan Turbo GT gave pool party vibes to keep everyone in high spirits throughout the four days of the Festival.
Also new this year and continuing the outdoor theme was ‘Camp Cayenne’, with a display to celebrate the more rugged models from the Porsche range and the outdoor lifestyle options available. An air-cooled safari spec 911 was joined by its modern-day counterpart, the 911 Dakar, a Taycan Cross Turismo and a Cayenne and Macan, all flanked by glamourous bell tents, filled with children’s activities.
For anyone needing a rest, a large seating area was laid out with deckchairs and a giant screen showed all the action from the hillclimb, including James Wallis’ sprint to third place in the 992 GT3 Cup car.
In true British summer fashion, visitors to the Festival were treated to a range of seasons over the four days, and while the grey clouds were often looming, there was plenty of colour in the Club parking area to brighten things up.
We would like to extend a huge thanks to Porsche Cars GB for once again making this incredible opportunity available to our members. Exclusive experiences such as these are just one of the many benefits of a Porsche Club membership, made possible by our Club partners.
We would also like to offer a very warm welcome to the many new members who signed up. It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm for Porsche and we look forward to seeing you again at one of our National Events this summer.
