Strong auction prices for custom Porsches

Collecting Cars see high prices on custom Porsches and record sales

PCGB’s auction partner, Collecting Cars, has established itself as the leading online platform for those looking to buy or sell Porsches, with more than 2,000 auctions concluded to date. It’s no surprise that among these are some fantastic bespoke sports cars, ranging from an immaculate 911 Reimagined by Singer (sold for £800,000) to more affordable custom specials.

One of the most popular choices when it comes to modification is to mimic the legendary 911 Carrera RS 2.7, but one owner went much further with a 1973 Porsche 911 3.0 RSR MFI Tribute, equipped with a blueprinted competition engine and gearbox, 930 suspension components, wide Fuchs wheels under larger metal arches, and FIA/MSA paperwork. After an impressive bidding war, it sold for £144,500.

Another classic ‘evocation’ with a six-figure price (£120,001) was a 1967 911 S 2.0 that was totally rebuilt as an exacting homage to Vic Elford’s Rallye Monte Carlo-winning car. In Australia, our team consigned an incredible 356 B T6 ‘Outlaw’, completely modified with a roof chop, rolled door bottoms, and raked windscreen. Its fully rebuilt flat-four was taken to 2132cc with a John Willhoit package, giving it superb performance and helping the car to fetch a remarkable A$241,500.

Modern takes on the custom theme have included a 928 S4 with a very rare ‘Strosek’ conversion and finished in the eye-catching ‘Silver Sweetberry’ colour (sold for €45,000), as well as the famous ex-Harry Metcalfe 993 Turbo that was taken to a ‘GT2 EVO’ specification (£143,000).

PCGB members are reimbursed for photography costs if their car sells, so there has never been a better time to market a special 911. Visit the Collecting Cars website to find out more about getting a great result at auction.
