The finest drivers’ 911 ever stars at The Porsche Sale

A 1991 964 Carrera RS NGT will be auctioned by Silverstone Auctions on 15th October.

Silverstone Auctions will offer what is often regarded as the finest drivers’ 911 ever, a rare 1991 Porsche 911 (964) Carrera RS NGT, at The Porsche Sale on Saturday, 15th October at Silverstone circuit.

Hailed as the purest of all 911s, the super light-weight Carrera RS NGT variant, featuring a completely factory-stripped blank interior and roll cage, epitomises Porsche racing as the more radical version of the 964 Carrera RS.

This European specification example, finished in the striking colour of Maritime Blue, is chassis number 76 of just 290 examples created. It was first registered on 12th December 1991, supplied new by Porsche in Stuttgart.

The car remained in Germany until 2010 having had just three owners, before being exported to its new owner in Japan via Thomas Schmitz, a renowned Porsche RS specialist in Germany. The Porsche was recently imported into the UK with all duties and taxes paid.

“This is a superb example indeed and would make a fine addition to any Porsche collection”, commented Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions. “The 964 is often regarded as the all-encompassing true drivers’ 911, and there can be no doubt then that this Carrera RS in NGT specification is one of the most driver-focused and rewarding Porsches you will ever find.”

The specification includes Nomex Recaro bucket seats, a welded roll cage, an Alcantara Momo steering wheel and 4-point harnesses, perfectly suited to the harder and more track focused design that make the car so popular for events like the Nurburgring 24Hrs.

The car presents in generally excellent condition with just 25,000 miles on the clock. Inside, the cabin is in excellent condition with a very clean and tidy engine bay. Present in the history file are the original handbook and the original dealer-supplied maintenance book, complete with the options code sticker and no less than eight German service stamps, as well as numerous German documents and invoices from Porsche and Porsche specialists further verifying the service history.

The car will be offered at auction with a sale estimate of between £135,000 and £155,000.

“We have more than 60 best of breed Porsches on offer in the sale, but for those who demand one of the most exciting Porsche experiences available, this is the car for you,” added Nick.
