Club and AM Championships
It is rounds three and four of the Porsche Club Motorsport Championship with Pirelli and Porsche Club Motorsport AM Championship with Pirelli at the testing Anglesey circuit this weekend, and if the racing is half as good as that in the opening round a three weeks ago – we are in for a treat. Both categories provided a superb lead battle in each race, and with all the main players out again this weekend it should be more of the same.

It was three-way battle at the front in each of the Porsche Club Motorsport Championship races at Silverstone on Easter weekend, Jake McAleer taking both wins despite dropping down the order off the start each time. He battled back past his father Mark and reigning champion Simon Clark, the trio of rapid 997s running close together for lap after lap, to head the points table with two of the fourteen races completed.

There were great battles down the order, Chris Dyer lead Cayman home with fourth in race one, just ahead of the 997s of Jim Bryan and Pete Morris. This trio shuffled the order in race two, Morris ahead of Dyer and Bryan both times, their battles as good as that out front.

Porsche Club Motorsport AM Championship is dominated by the Boxster S, and fittingly it was 2012 Boxster Cup champion Richard Forber, making his AM Championship debut, who took the win in race one. He led home Stuart Marston and Oliver Chatham, the latter recovering from dropping to the rear of the field avoiding a spinning car on lap one, contact saw Forber retire from race two, Chatham also a retiree.

That second race saw Shiraz Khan take an early lead and despite immense pressure from his pursuers stay clear in the final laps to take his first ever race win. Having taken fourth in race one that sees Khan head the AM points table, with Darren Labbett, reigning champion and second in race two, next up in the championship standing.

Regular front-runner Andrew Porter was down on power at Silverstone and will be keen to bounce back, while 2024 Boxster Cup champion Wayne Gregory has moved to the AM Championship for 2025 and will be learning to get the best out of his slicks.

All cars run to a strictly policed minimum weight and on Pirelli slick tyres, The Club Championship cars have to do qualifying and two races on a single set of tyres, the AM Championship cars two qualifying sessions and four races. A wet weather tyre is available if conditions require it, and it all adds up to close exciting racing and a great season ahead.

Boxster Cup
The Porsche Club Motorsport Boxster Cup returns to Anglesey with the closely matched cars and a bulging entry list sure to provide the great racing the series has become known for. Intended as a route into motorsport for newcomers as well as a home for some series regulars who enjoy not only the race action but also the camaraderie and paddock atmosphere the Boxster Cup has become a popular choice for drivers for of all levels.

The opening rounds on Easter weekend saw a pleasing mix of new and old faces at the front of the pack, and it was one of the newcomers, 20-year-old Bertie Bream, who took both wins, the first in style pulling out a lead on a slippery damp track. He made it a double later in the afternoon and heads the points table after the first two of the 14-rounds.

A second-place finish and a fourth sees the experienced Perry Darling second in the points, and he was on both Anglesey podiums last year so should go well. Mike Thompson is a previous series runner-up and claimed a good second in race two at Silverstone to sit third, while Barrington Darcy, in his second year, claimed his first podium finish in race one and sits fourth.

Max Watt showed his pace at Silverstone going second quickest in qualifying and a fourth and fifth place finish in the races and will be another new face to watch this season. Matt Gough claimed the first pole of the season but was caught out by the tricky conditions in race one, in a race that seemed to feature most of the field other than the leader having at least one lurid slide.

Several series regulars had troubled outing at Silverstone and will be keen to set their seasons back on track this weekend, so watch out for names such as Ben Grewcock and Faye Noble-Evans to be out to score points. They will be faced with some series newcomers keen on rapidly getting up to pace so it is all to play for round Anglesey!

Tyres are key in the Boxster Cup with competitors limited to just two sets of treaded Pirelli tyres for the season to control costs. The series is positioned as an entry route into circuit racing and has seen many rookies make their race debuts, and while some have gone on to bigger things many have stayed on for more of the close and affordable racing the series can offer. Drivers count their best 12-scores over the season, and while that offers some safety net over the 14-race season, every point is precious so things will be hard-fought from the very first race.
