Club and AM Championships

As has become almost traditional Oulton Park hosts the meeting that marks the mid-point of the Porsche Club Motorsport Club Championship with Pirelli and Porsche Club Motorsport AM Championship with Pirelli season. That means the championship battle is already brewing in both championships, and the points haul from round 4’s two races could prove crucial.

For a while now, the battle at the front has been reigning champion Simon Clark taking on Mark and Jake McAleer, and the father and son combination claimed the first four wins of the year between them. Clark missed the two races at Anglesey in May due to a gearbox issue in qualifying but returned in style at Brands Hatch to take two wins.

Third in the championship points is Pete Morris, like Mark McAleer and Clark a former double champion, making it four 997s at the top of the table. The Championship field also contains some quick Caymans, Ed Hayes claiming the first Cayman podium of the year at Anglesey, while former Boxster Cup champion Pete Evans races a 996 C2. Jonathan Evans made his season debut at Brands Hatch and took a second-place finish, while Jim Bryan has been in the thick of the action this season.

The AM Championship is dominated by the Boxster S, and Andrew Porter currently heads the points, some consistent driving seeing him on the podium in the last four races and overdue a win. Shiraz Khan has won three races to date, including both at Brands Hatch last month, but was another to hit issues at Anglesey and only sits sixth in the points, however, he will be a driver to watch.

2025 Boxster Cup champion Wayne Gregory has adapted to slicks swiftly and took a win at Anglesey to be second in the table, just ahead of teammate and last year’s AM champion Darren Labbett. The field are very closely matched, Tom Andrew twice on the podium so far and Jason Brown once, both will be keen to score another good finish at Oulton Park.

All cars run to a strictly policed minimum weight and on Pirelli slick tyres, The Club Championship cars have to do qualifying and two races on a single set of tyres, the AM Championship cars two qualifying sessions and four races. A wet weather tyre is available if conditions require it, and it all adds up to close exciting racing and a great season that only finishes in early October.

Tech Spec:
The Porsche Club Championship is for road going Porsche models converted to racing. Models are balanced within the classes by power-to-weight ratio with varying minimum weights, which may be changed during the season if required. Both classes run on Pirelli slick tyres, with a wet-weather tyre for rain affected races.

Boxster Cup
The Porsche Club Motorsport Boxster Cup returns to this popular Oulton Park race day for rounds seven and eight of the 14-race season the closely matched cars sure to provide the great racing the series has become known for. Intended as a route into motorsport for newcomers as well as a home for some series regulars who enjoy not only the race action but also the camaraderie and paddock atmosphere the Boxster Cup has become a popular choice for drivers for of all levels.

The experienced Mike Thompson heads the points having only failed to finish on the podium once and taken a win at Anglesey in May and should be quick having won both races at Oulton Park last year. It is another racer with many Boxster Cup races under his belt in second, Perry Darling also with a race win this season and always running near the front.

Always a feature of the series is the pace of the annual influx of newcomers, and Bertie Bream announced his arrival in style with two wins at the opening Silverstone rounds in April and podiums at each meeting since that see him third in the points. Also, quick has been Max Watt who drove well to take his first win at Brands Hatch last time out and will continue gain pace as the season goes on, his battle with Bream in that battle for the race win last month a highlight.

Scott Evans left Brands Hatch with a win to his name and has moved to third in the table, his Boxster quick now reliability issues have been sorted. Other drivers have shown pace, Barrington Darcy has been a factor though went off at Brands Hatch in race two, while both Ben Grewcock and Faye Nobel-Evans have shown their pace before and are overdue good results.

Tyres are key in the Boxster Cup with competitors limited to just two sets of treaded Pirelli tyres for the season to control costs. The series is positioned as an entry route into circuit racing and has seen many rookies make their race debuts, and while some have gone on to bigger things many have stayed on for more of the close and affordable racing the series can offer. Drivers count their best 12-scores over the season, and while that offers some safety net over the 14-race season, every point is precious, so things are hard-fought from the very first race.
