A 2024 to Remember for Porsche Club Motorsport

A 2024 to remember for Porsche Club Motorsport

It has been a memorable 2024 for Porsche Club Motorsport with strong support for all four of its series and some close and exciting competition at every event. The high standards of competition and organisation have not only seen drivers at the very highest level of British club motorsport battling for championships but also saw newcomers making their debuts and progressing to become successful and rapid competitors.

It was a busy 2024, with 56-points scoring rounds across all of Porsche Club Motorsport’s events and 15 venues visited – some by every series at different times. In all, 71 drivers scored points with more only taking in selected rounds – and the track racing series, the Porsche Club Motorsport Championship with Pirelli, the Porsche Club Motorsport AM Championship with Pirelli and the Woods Foodservice Porsche Club Motorsport Boxster Cup, often had the most cars of any series at a meeting. A particular highlight was having more than 40-Porsches lining up on the grid at Oulton Park in June for a public lunchtime walkabout at the annual Supercar Pageant.

The Porsche Club Motorsport Speed Championship with Ninemeister was once more well-supported and as ever had the smallest of margins to decide the winner at the end of the 14 scoring sprint and hillclimb rounds. Stephen Jory claimed class four and outright honours, but only by virtue of scoring more wins that Wayne Eason, the two tied on points and the number of victories deciding the championship.

Having made his racing debut in the series in 2022, Wayne Gregory was the Boxster Cup champion, while team-mate Darren Labbett claimed AM championship honours, that title new for 2024. In the Porsche Club Championship, some great lead battles saw Simon Clark claim his second overall title, beating off the challenges of Jake and Mark McAleer over the 14 races at meetings run by UK leading organisers MSVR – who greatly appreciate the efforts of the Porsche Club Motorsport team in driving their various series forward.

“It has been fantastic to see the success of the two Porsche Club grids running with MSVR this season,” said MSVT Commercial and Competitions Manager Joe East, “especially while others have struggled in the challenging economic climate. Mandy Sear and Chris Pruden have listened closely to their competitors’ feedback which is certainly a key component to the success they’ve seen.

“The cars are always well presented by the teams and driving standards overall are very high. Mandy and Chris also run a tight ship when it comes to eligibility, doing everything they can to ensure a level playing field for all. I think these factors, coupled with Mandy and Chris’s popularity in the paddock, are all conducive to the success we are seeing with the Boxster Cup in particular.”

Plans for 2025 are already in place with the club once more enjoying the access to the UK’s leading venues that MSVR can offer for the race series while the Speed championship will again take in some iconic hill climb and sprint venues. Interest is already strong from existing and new competitors with draft regulations now already available and entry lists opening in the New Year.
