Growing up in a family that ran its own driving school, Colin was immersed in the world of driving from an early age. His first competitive event came at just 10 years old, where he finished third overall against members of CAMDA. A first hill climb followed at 17, and by 21 he had qualified as an Approved Driving Instructor – the minimum possible age.

Five years later, Colin gained his HGV Class 1 qualification and entered circuit racing at Ingliston. When Croft Circuit reopened in 1995, he began coaching there, initially in Jaguar E-Types, before expanding his work through connections with Silverstone and circuits across the UK. His racing experience spans classic sports cars, modern GTs and endurance racing, including Le Mans support races and Daytona.

Throughout his career, Colin has blended road and race driving, working with the FIA on young driver safety initiatives and delivering training internationally across Africa and the Middle East. He has also spent several winters coaching car control on the frozen lakes of Sweden and Norway.
