Lock without enabling the alarm

Hi,
I'm taking my 987 gen2 on a ferry this weekend and want to lock it without enabling the alarm. Can anyone confirm that the correct way to do this is press the Lock/Unlock button on the key fob twice within one second?
Thanks,
Andy

I've just checked in my Cayman handbook and it says the method you mentioned disables the internal cabin sensor but will still sound the alarm if the doors are opened - maybe that is the setting you need on a ferry?

When I've jacked my car up, with the doors locked/alarm enabled, the alarm has been triggered. You could test your alarm in the same way - when you've verified that the alarm is triggered repeat the test having locked the car but disabled the cabin sensor, that would at least let you know whether or not the alarm remains sensitive/insensitive to body movement. Or maybe just rocking the car would be enough to test the alarm trigger?

I guess you've been reading the stuff from the ferry operator about turning off the alarm. In reality, 95% of the people using the ferry take no notice and just lock their cars as normal. I use the ferry on average once a year and just do the same as everyone else.

It's a very good point you raise Andy and one to be aware of, as a friend of mine hadn't considered this whilst travelling on the ferry. Much to his annoyance and those of the ferry staff! The ferry personnel had tried to contact him during the crossing to avail. Needless to say, when he return to his car the battery was flat. He had to wait until all the cars on his deck had disembarked before they attended to him.

I use a ferry on a fairly regular basis and never bother to lock the car due to the alarm going off .... but the trip is only an hour or less. I don`t leave anything of value in view however.

it's the tilt sensor that goes off, so if you have a tracker don't forget to notify them of the times it will be on the ferry so as to not trigger the theft of the car.....

One reason I don`t have my tracker activated.
