Meet at PC Portsmouth

Thanks to the Southern region and PC Portsmouth for putting on a great meet on the 22nd. It did say classic cars so I drove my 356 down there, from Sussex, in fact it was the longest distance the car had done since restoration, but there was only one other 356 which was inside the showroom and a couple of 914's. All the rest was late model stuff, hairdressers Boxters and the like. Anyway the real bonus was getting to see the great Derek Bell who told us some terrific tales of his racing times. I bought his new book and the man very kindly signed it for me. So thanks again to all concerned for a great night out.

Sounds like I missed an excellent event but I have to say that restricting Boxsters to those owned by hairdressers is a bit divisive, not to mention out of character for the Portsmouth / Bournemouth OPC group and I'm not sure I'd want to patronise such a cliquey event in future.
Let's hope they reconsider...

HI Chris,

I think the "Hairdresser" remarks where very "tongue in cheek"... Like the event held in Bournemouth, the Region provided over 10 "Classic cars" for the vent, which according to Porsche include the 986 Boxster... and 996 911. It was open to all.... not just "new owners"
A good event, quite informal and Derek is a good public speaker

Cheers

Charlie
