Rear bumper lower cover

Hello fellow enthusiasts,

I've managed to hit the lower part of the rear bumper on a stone while reversing very slowly. Black plastic cover is bent in and looks like it could be popped out from inside - it's isn't broken. Also, there's a metal strip that is bent which most certainly needs replacement. I was told, however, that the whole bumper needs replacement (and painting) which amounts to a number which isn't attractive at all.

Looking at the parts catalogue (screenshot attached) these two parts seem to be available separately and prices are fairly reasonable.

Any similar experience? Opinions are most welcome!

Many thanks!

Nicholas

eBay may be your friend. Rear 991 PU (bumpers) running less than £200

My wife did something similar so we immediately went to a local bodyshop and with some heat they managed to get the plastic part back as good as new - this becomes more difficult the longer it is left.

Good luck

Hi Ralph,

Thanks for the tip. This happened on Sunday so aiming to sort it out ASAP.
There‘s no damage to the bumper itself, it’s just that lower black plastic bit and the metal strip. I don’t understand why I was quoted a price for the whole rear bumper and the paint job. Will chase this thoroughly!

Cheers,
Nicholas
