Radiator fans

I thought I might run this problem through the forum before I start ripping things apart. On occasions when start up, and the engine is cold, the rad fans come on. I don't know if they are of variable speed but they are going full chat. Also at the end of a drive with the engine temp just normal the fans start up again. I had new coolant pipes fitted last year and there is no coolant loss and with normal driving, nothing much over 3K rpm I wouldn't have thought it necessary for the fans to come in to play. Any ideas???

One fan on each side of the car cools both the A/C Condenser and Radiator. If they're going full chat, it's a hell of a noise and I'd expect some sort of issue if that is the case. Normally:
If your A/C is Off, the fans will run occasionally according to engine cooling needs, but not usually to an audible level (normally you'd have to put a hand on front of the wheel in order to feel air flow and confirm the fan is on)
If your A/C is On, the fans will run constantly. As above in regards to operational noise.
As the car gets hotter, the fans worker harder to cool both the Rads and A/C condensers. A bit noiser, but still not too bad.

I had to take it into Cridfords in Ewhurst to get it sorted because I couldn't find the problem. What they found was a non functioning a/c pressure switch, duly replaced, they re-gassed the air con and now I have no screaming fans and USA style cold out of the a/c.
I've got to check the car over as I'm off to Belgium next week riding in a big sportive over the cobbled climbs around the Oudenaarde area. I don't have a pukka bike rack for the C4S but I can just squeeze the bike in the back, not a lot of room left for me though!
