997.2 retrofit cruise control

Hi,

Just picked up a 997.2 C4. Exact spec I wanted but is missing the cruise control. Anyone had this retrofitted? At what cost fron Porsche? Or any cheaper alternatives? Mine is PDK with sport paddle steering wheel.

many thanks

Rhys

I had cruise retrofitted to a 997.1 and, more recently, to a 991. A Porsche dealer or Indy can do it easily. The cost is likely to be circa £400.

I looked in to this on my Cayman, I was told that the wiring is already there as part of the existing loom the money is spent on the 'Cruise Control lever' and the 'new steering column cover' with the hole for said lever, then it just needs plugging into a computer and ticking the 'Cruise Control fitted' box. However, not sure how true this was as it was still around £500 which seemed a lot. I have it on my new car and it is worth getting as it stops you creeping up to silly speeds when cruising on the motorways.

I have done this upgrade. Purchased a 4 stalk unit from eBay and removed cruise control switch, fitted to my existing unit wiring is already installed. You need the bottom plastic cover from the 4 stalk for the cutouts. Had the unit coded to the car at a local Indy £40. Sold the 3 stalk unit on eBay for £10 more than I payed for the 4 stalk (lucky I realise) so total cost £30. Fitting was quite strait forward and well within the capabilities of a competent home mechanic.
Hope this helps
