HI , AM PLANNING TO REPLACE MY MANIFOLDS ON 911 CARRERA CAN ANYBODY WHO HAS ALREADY DONE THIS GIVE ME ANY POINTERS TO WHERE TO BUY, ALSO STUDS AND NUTS, I KNOW ORIGINAL BOLTS,ANY HELP APPRECIATED, HAVE SEEN THEM ON EBAY FROM GERMANY, ANYBODY HAVE EXPERIENCE FROM THESE SUPPLIERS, REGARDS ELWYN

Elwyn, hi not sure if you frequent the 911uk forum but a guy on the site manufactures sets in stainless. He often puts a post up when he is going to machine another batch. Might be worth looking if your not in a rush

Regards

I would avoid the stainless steel. Whilst they sound like a great solution, they are a complete nightmare to remove, if they strip threads or need removing.

Go for original bolts from Porsche and monitor condition every few years with view to replace. Ensure new gaskets and properly torqued.

Another option is titanium at a price http://www.porschetistuds.co.uk/ The hardest part is removing old bolts - mine had to drilled out and threads realigned. Not replaced my manifold yet, but read some aftermarket reduce clearance too, so check.

Good point Tony, I believe the same guy produces titanium fixings if you want. Not sure if on here or 911uk but someone was offering hire of jig to assist in drilling out broken studs

guys thanks for input, shall take a closer look at manifolds, there is little room to start with so shall watch out for reduced clearance. also will go with porsche bolts and gaskets and monitor every oil change, again if anybody spots manifolds or has any experience with german company please let me know, i have got my hands on a stomski jig so hope it will ease the pain, regards Elwyn

FVD in Germany - believe some of their exhaust systems also have official Porsche part numbers. I did find a company in the US that produced tubular systems for 996 and guaranteed clearance was not compromised - but unfortunately cannot find the link.

I changed mine for a multiple branch type of eBay great quality just use porsche gaskets. Studs etc mine were terrible but I used a mini conductor on them to heat them red hot but with no flame. They all came out with ease I put back steel ones from Design 911. If you can give each bolt a single hard hit to the top first. Have fun

thanks again folks, shall keep looking for manifolds, if its anything like the fun i had with brake fluid change, spent evenings heating and cooling nipples, last one snapped, only for friend with machine shop would have been new caliper, shall be very careful, plan sometime september, Elwyn

thanks for your reply and sorry only thanking you now, my computer took a wobble, those manifolds look great and will watch for more to come up on ebay, unfortunately they seem to be out of stock at the moment.regards elwyn, thanks again for link
