R4 Blyton Park track day May 25th

Sadly we are not doing it this year as the 944 is off the road and up for sale.

There are usually a couple of people from the Region on it though, it's a really good day.

Thats a shame you can't make it, I am normally there with Sarah and she was booked on with me but can't go now.

More track time for me though as she would have one session in the car.

Agreed its a great event and well worth doing.

I’m doing it in my 996 sent my entry off weeks ago. I look forward to seeing you there Superjoe. I hope there’s more than just us two from R7. It’s a great way to learn ones capabilities and find out how great our cars are. Much better and safer to find out on track rather than the public highway! For anyone reading this who might be a little reticent about it, free tuition is available and newcomers must have it before going solo. There’s almost nothing to hit at Blyton Park should you get it wrong. It’s very well organised and because it’s a PCGB event fewer cars, only 6 I think, are allowed on track at any one time. As for wear and tear on your car, well it’s up to each person how hard they want to drive and it’s probably not much harder on the car than a spirited cross country drive except on brakes that will work hard and become hot.

Thunderstorms and breezy tomorrow.

I was going to go sporting a pair of front tyres nearly on the wear marks (no problem in the dry)
but the car is in today for a new set of fronts in preparation of a wet day.

New tyres might be as exciting as worn ones since they’ll be slippery until they’ve covered a few miles. Some tyres I’d had on order for weeks arrived on the Friday before a wet Harewood Hill Climb. I’m sure it was highly entertaining for those watching but didn’t make for fast times

It's going to be fun in the wet, I span on the sighting lap last year and on my first lap out with an instructor. Made it very exciting in the morning.

I thought the day would be ruined by the rain but I was pleasantly surprised at how much time I spent on track.
I didnt have a camera to take pics, but here is a one lap video, maybe more footage to follow when I get time to edit.

Thanks Joe. Nice vid, great car control. Nowhere better than a trackday for learning the limits. A wet trackday can be surprisingly enjoyable.

You call that wet Joe?

This is what is was like back in 2015 - biblical rain..!

Sorry I couldn't join you all this year. The Cayman's out of commision at the moment due to run-in with a Kamikaze black cat..!

No ones mentioned the oil we had this year, probably beats the biblical flood. Apologies for the early curtailment of play.

Ouch..! Oil and rain isn't a good mixture Rod. Hope it didn't put too much of a damper on proceedings.

Hopefully catch up with you all next year - fingers crossed for a dry day..!

Here are a few pictures, I have some more but not been through them all yet.

Although 2015 was indeed biblically wet, it was nothing like as slippery or treacherous as at this years event. Apart from the huge aquaplane coming out of Bunga-bunga there was plenty of grip, unlike the conditions this year as shown in the video Simon found (anyone going to claim -lots of fine recoveries shown there)
i suspect that some oil had been leaking for some from the car that had the huge leak later?
