R1 meeting tonight

Think we as a club need to get a central point as 2 meeting points is diluting the attendance .Was at the TIPEC meet last night and had 33 attend and regularly get good attendances even in the winter months and I do 90 miles round trip to attend .
It seems that unless it is a fish /curry meet or visit to an OPC no one seems to attend just a normal club meeting any suggestions ? venues to suite E&W

Entirely agree with you. Monthly meetings in their present format are dying. Although I am very close to the east area location, I would be happy to travel further for a decent turnout.

We have only had one meeting in the West this year ( February ). A few of us met up 2nd Tuesday in January but not official PCGB.
I think we need an AGM type meeting to discuss matters like Monthly meetings, East, West or Joint and meeting venues. We have been discussing this for a while regarding Sherbrooke, poor access, tight car park. Also it's just a get together no meeting.
I think we should have a monthly meeting in a set venue, having Curry nights and Fish and Chip runs on meeting night is just masking the problem. These Events should take place separately.
Thoughts?

Alan.

I'm with you on this Alan. One central meeting point for monthly meetings with chip runs curry nights etc done separately to the monthly meeting. Dakota Euro Central or somewhere around that part of the world would be good. If not going for one central meeting then I think we have to move from Sherbrooke to somewhere else in the Glasgow area.

Hi folks,
the monthly meetings both east and west have historically been poorly attended and I’m not convinced simple venue change(s) will rectify this.
I will arrange a meeting for July at a location away from our usual monthly meetings where there will be an opportunity for members to attend, give their views and ideas and discuss the way forward.
Please look out for my emails keeping you updated, as that is how I will communicate and I look forward to a good turnout on the night.
Regards,
Donald.

I regularly attended London and Kent monthly meetings when I lived south.
The time (8pm) and location (a random hotel in Glasgow) never sparked my interest in attending. I do think the venue has something to do with it.

I think we need to encourage the meetings, with 500 members you would expect a better turnout. So what is wrong if not location, are they too casual, with no actual format or discussions about events.
When I was Acting ARO west a few years ago while Scott was in Wales I used to send a reminder text a few days before to the regular attendees that I had numbers for, we had up to 18 members attend. Maybe a reminder email from the RO a few days before each meeting with an agenda of points for discussion.
I also think locations for both meetings need to be discussed.

Are both East and West meeting as per normal for June?

Alan.
