Thoughts on this body rust

I have a couple of small patches of rust on the rear both circled. They are around rear engine cover. Do you think i can just remove the paint and treat the rust? Or do you think it could be coming inside out? I cant tell if it is getting worse but keen to stop it spreading. Other side of the rear engine cover seems fine, no sign of rust.

It,s coming from the inside, mud an muck gets trapped behind that area and keeps it damp. Sorry but it will have to be done at some stage, enjoy the car in the good weather an get it done in the winter.

Thanks bernie. Sounds like it is on list then for my end of the year service! Doesnt sound like a diy job.

I did my cab. Fairly straightforward just make sure you get a bag of the anodised black screws that will need replacing and the "C" clips that are in abundance. Just check the parts catalogue for what's needed.
I removed the rear bumper and also found that the aluminium brackets that hold on the crash bar were shot and if ever I'd been winched out by the rear tow eyelet, it would have pulled the whole lot off the car. The heat shied was shot but repaired with some silver highly reflective tape and the bumper brackets were replaced with some I made from stainless steel using a tube bender and a friends hydraulic press. As for the caked mud and rubbish stored at the back of the wing over the years, once it was removed with a pressure washer and well dried in the sun, the rust was treated with POR15 and then wax oiled. Not seen any rust bubbles since.

David is taking the bumper off a good thing to do while I‘m there as chances are there is more rust lucking underneath the bumper? Or do i need to take the bumper off to get behind the wing?
