New Kid on the block

Hello to one and all, as the new boy I guess I have to introduce myself, my name is Del (Derek if I am bad) and up to 2 years ago I had always driven big cars such as the Grand Jeep Cherokee, Chrysler 300c, Chrysler 300c SRT, Mercedes E Class and then for some unknown reason I decided to get a Porsche, maybe it was because I hit 45 and maybe because my hair is slowly receding and my waistline growing or maybe because I can now afford it !! Anyway, two years ago I visited a good friend of mine, Mike at Ashgood Sports Cars and after letting my drive all of his toys he had in stock, and I mean a lot of test drives of different Porsche's, I finally settled down with a nice black 2012 Cayman 2.9 with the sports Chrono pack as well as various other toys which I loved to bits, great to drive and loads of fun especially when the 'Hooligan' button is pressed, however there was a voice in my head that would not go away and kept telling me that I should get a 911. After several months of trying to forget these thoughts they would just not go away so I went back to Mike at Ashgood and traded in my beloved, no no the wife, and drove home in a 2009 white 997 Gen 2 Cabriolet, 17,000 miles and in really great condition. Obviously I had the tail pipes changed from the two to the four, the silver 18" wheels, replaced with black 19", heated seats fitted (who buys a cab with leather and does not have this as standard) and a few other sneaky additions that I don't want my wife to know about so won't list them on here.

Since then all it has done is snow and rain so apologies I guess this was my fault for buying a cab but now the weather seems to be improving it's time to get the roof down and get to a few meets.

Look forward to meeting some of you there.
