Wheel Arch Liners for 1986 911 Carrera 3.2

Hi to the Forum / Members

Just joined the club, can not believe I have not joined up sooner! Looking forward to getting to some events soon, especially in Region 4!

I am currently having my 1986 911 restored and after 32 years of ownership the standard Porsche issues of rust in the wheel arches and door wells seem to be my most costly expense to sort out (so far). Thinking ahead to future-proofing it for another 32 years got me thinking about adding wheel arch liners to it. Obviously this wasn't developed in 1986 models but it could be a good way of protecting the car going forward; but my investigations so far have drawn a blank.

Does anyone know of a company that has developed a wheel arch liner conversation for the 1986 model please? Its either this conversion or wax oiling it like the old days.

Cheers, John

Hi John,
Please have a look at the Impact Bumpers forum.

We did a group purchase and had several sets made up a few years ago - mine have been on the car for a good few years with no issues.

A new group purchase is being set up for a new batch, so sign up and add yourself to the list.

Hi Beaky

Thank you for the heads up on this - I will check that out. Sounds like I timed this right.

Which sub-forum is that in please, or is it in this one? Sorry still trying to get me head around it.

Is there any links on there to have a look at the products themselves please?

Hi Beaky

Thank you for the link - much appreciated.
Have you got any pictures of them on your car, intrigued to know what they are made from and how they look? Also, how do they fix to the body of the car? sorry for the 20 questions

John

I fitted to my 87 3.2 20 years ago. made of aluminium with s a compliant rubber edge to allow for arch variations. I purchased from a classic car company in Germany who shipped them . I will have a rummage through my files and see if i can find the receipt. The co. does them for may old cars merc's, BMW etc too.

Will post again when I find the info as not at home at present

Hi John,
No pictures I'm afraid. Its held in place by a combination of using existing bolts found under the wheel arch and cables ties.

I'm sure there is a thread on how to mount them with pictures on the forum.

Hi I've just purchased my first Porsche, a 1986 911 3.2 Cabriolet Sport. It's in really good condition but does need a new set of wheel arch liners. Is anyone able to point me in the right direction of where I can get hold of them?
