If you missed this today, you missed a treat.
Thank you to the Club and the 4 marque experts.
A great informative day.
Graham.

I'll second that Graham.

And particular thanks to those behind the scenes who kept us well fed and watered throughout the day too..!

Jeff

Hear hear! Well said Graham. I was there and much enjoyed the day. When PCGB do something they do it well. Thanks to everyone at Cornbury House for another very good event!

I really enjoyed it. The depth of knowledge those guys have is quite something. To be able to field questions pretty much all day was very impressive.

It was my first club event, although I didn't volunteer that when I had the mic as everyone else seemed to have been a member for 30 years plus!

Cheers,
Bryan

Thanks all! Great day, learnt a bit and had a 220 mile round trip without any road works!

Tony

Yes, the years of membership as part of people's intro was amusing.
1988 for me...30 years I've owned my 73T 911.

Is there a reference point / source that members can go to off the back of this, re accessing what was said?
I'd imagine a couple of questions were asked re the IMS and/or bore score topics, and no doubt some well informed and succinct answers given....based on a few other recent forum strings where the same topics were raised, it would be handy if an interested member could "plug into" whatebver was discussed at the seminar.

Craig,

I don't think that there was a video recording of the sessions, but maybe a résumé will be made available. You should check with the Club office.

Although I run a Gen2 CS I was rather surprised how little discussion there was about IMS bearing failures. The consensus from both the Porsche and Independent tech experts was that the number of actual failures is extremely small and very much overblown by the internet. The majority of 987 cars benefit from having the last IMS bearing development - which seems to be pretty durable - and its replacement requires a partial engine strip (the earlier bearings can be very simply swapped-out).

I think that Gen1 bore scoring is perceived to be a more significant issue than IMS bearing failure and I don't recall RMS leaks being mentioned at all.

Jeff

Both topics were discussed very openly and the answers were interesting.
Far less than 0.3% of early IMS cars have failed. Gen2 engines don't have them so immune etc.
Bore scoring was discussed too.
A great BS=free day.

Thanks for all the feedback. Very grateful to the panel who gave up their Saturday to provide such great insight.

We didn't film the day but do plan to release a 'top-ten' tips which hopefully will provide useful.

Really appreciate all the enthusiastic input from members, the pre-submitted questions really helped the day flow.

Cheers,

Chris

Would have loved to have attended, had my name down for the initial seminar last year before it got postponed. Unfortunately I seemed to have missed the email to say it had been rearranged. Gutted.

Very unfortunate and probably even more gutting for you as I had a place booked but fell ill with a stomach bug on Friday night so was unable to attend meaning my place went to waste. I'm most disappointed to have missed the seminar and the opportunity to meet other 987 owners especially those who post on these forums.
