Rear light cluster condensation & LED Upgrades

Any tips for sealing the rear light clusters? Just noticed the drivers side has some condensation in it after all the terrible weather. Looks like replacements are about £400 per side! Taken it off to dry out, looks pretty basic but suspect the glue that holds the lens to the backing has a leak somewhere, although there are drain tubes on the back anyway so it's open to atmosphere by design.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions...
 
If its open to atmosphere by design I guess sealing it would do no good But if its leaking would it not show water rather than condensation

 
So after carefully removing, drying and re-installing I'm back with a condensation issue (and small pool of water) in one of the rear lenses, although they are open to atmosphere they are obviously not meant to have water ingress as the drains are not that effective (though I might try removing again and getting an airline into the drain holes).

My current thinking is to update with LED's from Design 911, seem to have a couple of options, anyone done this, any issues with longevity? It's a slightyl cheaper option than the standard lens and means I can try to repair the original lens and keep both as spare...

 
Hi Phil,

I saw SteveAndrews (username) 996 with LED upgrades on it, and it looks good in the flesh IMO. I do remember him saying on here though, that it was done already when he bought it, so has no idea who made them. It certainly looks good on his black car, Im not always convinced by other colours online, I need to be able to see it on the car.

Thanks for the reply Mark, it's obviously not a popular topic, maybe no-one else has suffered water ingress.

I'm going to go with the LED update and keep the standard lenses as spares. I like having the option of returning to standard, and also it will ensure the standard units don't get any more wear and tear...

 
Not a bad idea. Also, defo do keep the old units in case you sell and the new owner wants to return it to stock, as seems to be the more common theme now
