2018 Porsche 356 International

Is anyone here on the Forum going to attend the 356 International in May, or planning to see the cars at Castle Hedingham on Friday 4th May?
It seems to be very quiet on here about this big international event.

Do you mean the 356 International that wasn't actually open to all who applied (even those who pre-registered within hours of being invited to do so last May)?

Not that I am bitter  ..... but seeing the cars at Castle Hedingham would be rubbing my nose in it.  However all the best to those attending ......

I have just had the best ever private 356 display as well over 100 cars left Hanbury Manor via Cold Christmas. A sunny day and an elevated viewing platform from the seat of my ride on mower!
    Thank you 356 International.

Just want to say a huge thankyou to everyone who worked so hard to make the
43rd 356 International Event such a success.  Friday and Saturday we followed 2
Routes, Friday to Castle Hedingham and Saturday to Wethersfield Airfield. The Route took us through some of the prettiest lanes we have ever seen.  All in all a thoroughly successful
Weekend.   A big pat on the back for all the Organisers of this Event.

I'm a little bit annoyed I didn't make the 356 International. I heard that the event would be in the UK whilst I was in the last throws of restoring/rebuilding my 356 last year but by the time I got around to trying to register for the event it was full. I wasn't that disappointed because I did hear it was all a bit on the regimented and posh side with black ties at dinner and that sort of thing. So thanks but no thanks and as for jousting, I don't think so.
However I still wanted to attend a big meet where no one would be turned away, so I'm going to the 356 Registry East coast holiday in Atlantic City N.J. I have spoken with one of the organisers and she made me so welcome I'm really looking forward to it now. There won't be any jousting but there will be quite a bit of the Americans' 2nd favourite pastime which is eating and there sounds like there are some really special seafood restaurants in the locale. The big question is will I take the 356, it's 75/25 no but I am getting some shipping quotes. It would be so cool.

Thanks Robin, it was good to see you and Jo.

A priviledge for the team to work on such a prestigious event.

As for the black ties, i didn’t see one in four days. I did see lots of sun and smiles though!

    Cheers,

I would just like to say a big THANK YOU to all those involved in organising the 356 International.
Whilst I (along with others) could not attend on all three days I did purchase a ticket for the Hedingham Friday.
On arrival at Hedingham  in my 'Old Gal' we were given privileged parking along with other one day attendees in 356's on the drive leading up to the Castle.  The three day entries (I would guess) approx 150 356's were split in four groups.  These groups arrived in convoy having driven a scenic route from the base Hotel to the Castle. What a sight and photo opportunity as they drove towards the castle to be parked.

I made my up to the Castle to admire a range of cars I'm unlikely to see gathered in the UK for many a year. And what a range of cars, some from the 1940's to the 1960's, bent screens, open tops, cabs, Speedsters, Continentals, Coupes, Notchbacks, Carrera's, not to mention the Bench seats, Rudge knock offs, etc etc etc

I spoke to various owners from many countries along with UK club members, everyone I spoke with was thoroughly enjoying the event.  I returned to the 'Old Gal' to get some refreshment and was pleasantly surprised to find that the 'One day only' 356 cars had been included on the end of the last of the main group to arrive.  A really nice touch.

Well done again to all 'The Team' bringing us this superb day/event.  You deserved the wall to wall sunshine for your efforts.

As they say in 356 circles 'Keep the Faith'

I have already said how much we enjoyed the 356 International.
It was not regimented, posh or black tie.  I think the contributor
who made these criticisms must be thinking about a different
event, not the one we attended!
It was a  great opportunity to mix with like minded people from
all over the world,  make new friends and meet up with old friends.
The Events which Porsche Club Great Britain organise are very
popular and fill up quickly, so to avoid  disappointment you need to book
    early.

    Bye for now.

Ok so I got it wrong on all counts and missed out, I will just have to be quicker for next year. By the way has a date and place been set for 2019 yet. Knowing my luck it will be somewhere like Kathmandu, just down the road, no problem.

I would just like to say that Karen and I had a fantastic time at this event and Karen kept commenting on what a fantastic effort the organising team made and how well it was organised.
Everyone there be they rich or poor were brought together by a common number,356.
The weather was unbelievable, waking up every morning to brilliant sunshine, it was like living in Spain rather than England, it made the daily drives even more special.
A great event in the PCGB annuls.
A word for Chris Seaward, Can you upload the event video that was shown at the Gala Dinner?
    Many thanks
    Ian & Karen
