Emergency bonnet release in Fuse Box

Could not open the front bonnet as the battery was flat on my 987 I know its the same on the 996 and 997
My red slider that pulls out in the fuse box was missing
Found it hanging down beside the fuse box when I removed the Carpet by the Fuse Box

I attached a battery to the unit and it still does not work.

THere is no power to the copper pieces (not sure there should be!!)

Does anybody know if there is fuse for this item it has two red wires - One thick and one thin

Would like to sort this before i put the carpet back

Thanks

The emergency power terminal should be at the top right hand side of the fuse panel in the footwell. According to the wiring diagrams, it should have black wires connected to it.

So I did find the correct part of the Wiring Diagram in my Bentley 996. (Shows black)
Mine is Red - will post a picture tomorrow

It has actually been pushed out of the back by some heavy handed owner

Mine is a 987 - thought it would be the same and know you know your 996 Richard

Can you check if it is live when pulled out
Wll post a photo tomorrow

Thanks

It was the 987 wiring diagram that I checked, and yes, it should be live all the time.

If an admin picks up on this thread, maybe they could move it to the Boxster forum.

The reason I asked this on the 996 Forum is that Richard Hamilton seems t know more and answer the questions better andas we all know the 996 and the 986 are exactly the same front end
Received no help on Boxster Forum and I am a Full Porsche Owners Club Member
Thanks

As Richard had already replied ( and suggested the move to the Boxster forum) do you want me to leave it here or move it back?

I am trying to find out if the Brass Connectors on the Emergency Pullout in the Fuse Box is Live (Its the same unit on 996 and 986) Presume its the same on 997 and 987 (But do not have a Bentley Manual for 987 with circuit diagram)

Mine was "Missing" but an engineer at Porsche Centre Chester said it might have been pushed out of the back of the fuse box which turned out to be true
I have two red leads on mine (You cant normally see this as its hidden) and Richard said they where black on the Circuit Diagram for the 996 (THey are on the 986 Bentley manual)!

Mine is still not working and as we all know it is a right pain to open the bonnet without the fuse box related pullout

I would like to find out why it is not working and first thing to work out is if it should be live.

When I had a 996 Richard seemed to come up with al the answers on the 996 and as the 986 is similar thought he might help

Think its very strange that the wires are a different colour

Thanks

Sorry all - Missed Richard Hamiltons reply
It should be alive all the time and is not (Probably because its hanging loose)
Is there a Fuse for the Emergency Release Unit. Number please
The wiring diagram suggests it goes to the Emergency Release Relay - Now if that is missing maybe that is the problem
Cant find an "Emergency Power Supply Relay 8/A11" Any ides please

Just looked up RELAY on the Porsche Parts List for 997
Looks like there should be a relay right next to the 987 Emergency Release Unit (RED) that is missing
Its the same as one of the Roof Relays 999 657 14 90
Will pull this tomorrow and test it in the empty socket to see if become live
Thank for now

Could someone please post me a picture of 987.1 Fuse Box
As said before my Red Emergency Actuator is loose outside box
I also cant see where the Replay for the Actuator goes as it looks as though the carrier is also missing
The car is otherwise SUPERB can only assume that a previous owner push it back too far and decided to Remove the Relay to stop it shorting
REally (Relay!) Odd

THanks
