Change of colour for the 924

Its always annoyed me that the bottom half of my 924 looks a slightly different shade of white to the top half (not enough for anyone else to notice but its annoys me) so I decided to go for a change and two-tone the car. Went for vinyl mostly because its reversible and I wanted to see if I can could do the work.

A bit of research and YouTube time gave me some pointers and I started with a good cleanpolishwax of the surface. First discovery was don't use cheap eBay vinyl (it doesn't stretch correctly or react to getting heated very well) so soon as I had some better quality vinyl I started on the side panels. These are obviously flat-ish so easier to work on then moved on to the front lower wings (bit more curved) then the front rear valance then bumpers.

For the bumpers I enlisted my son to help apply heat when needed as I pulled the vinyl into place. A carefully placed red pin stripe and renewed the Porsche graphics on the back gave me this. I plan on getting the wheel re-furbed in silver which I think will balance out the red and might redo some of the vinyl as I'm not 100% happy with it in places but overall quite happy with it.

That looks great. Similar to the two-tone Turbo S1 cars. The upper White is set off well by the Guards Red.

The wheels looked a bit dark a gloomy compared to the bodywork now so I picked up a set of colour crested centre caps and hand polished the surroundhand painted the crest to break up the gloom! Colour now flows a little better between the body and wheels.
