Playing music from iPhone

Hi,
I would like to play music stored on my iPhone in my 997 gen 1 by connecting with the existing PCM and Bose system. Does anyone have a recommendation for how best to do this, via a Bluetooth or cabled set up please?

Generally speaking, if you want to play music from iPhone on non-Apple devices. There is no way for you. Since all iTunes music are encrypted with fairplay DRM protection, it can be played on Apple devices only. There is no right for you to re-encode or share these music to other devices, even you have paid for it. Fortunately, now there are much DRM removal software that are available on the Internet. Now you can choose one like Tuneskit Apple music converter to get rip of DRM protection and convert videos from M4V to MP4 and multiple compatible formats with lossless quality. After conversion, it will be much easier for you to enjoy all these videos on any devices freely. Maybe you can check more info at: https://www.tuneskit.com

I do not think the DRM issue is as described. DRM was introduced by Apple in 2003 when the record companies worried by all the illegal downloads, required that Apple use DRM for the first licensed subscription music library (iTunes) to prevent leakage of their copyright material. Sometime in 2009, Apple agreed a new licensing deal with the record companies which allowed DRM to be dropped. At that time, all iTunes music content was replaced by higher quality non-DRM versions. iTunes subscribers could replace their purchased DRM protected songs with higher quality non-DRM versions free of charge which I did.

I have a large library of music downloaded from iTunes and I can easily copy songs via a USB memory stick from my Apple laptop to my 981 generation car's Jukebox disc, so no DRM issue.

Here is how to replace old iTunes DRM songs with higher quality non-DRM versions

Not sure what's available in a 997.1, but if it looks like a 987.2, then it's really straight forward. See photo. You have a Y shaped cable that goes into both USB & iPod ports, the other end attaches to your iPhone. You can then use PCM.3 to select and play your music. No need to worry about DRM as you're playing from the source you legally downloaded to, so you're not copying it.

Part number 997 612 471 02 from Design911 for £38.66 (but it's a genuine Porsche part, so you should be able to get it from OPC) and also the Lightning to 30-pin Adapter, part number MD823ZM/A which is £29 from Apple. Buy a genuine part, as copies don't support audio.

As a bonus, it charges your phone at the same time.

I also have the same setup as described by Bryan in my 987.2, works fine and the integration with the PCM is good.
 
I have the same solution as Craiglm68 and having tried other Bluetooth solutions, I can also highly recommend it. The best feature about it is that on most units you select from 8 to 10 pre-defined frequencies for broadcasting to your radio. With this unit you can choose the exact frequency you want make eliminating unwanted radio broadcasts, especially illegal ones at each end of the bandwidth, much easier. Sound quality is good too. Downside is that it gets in the way a bit as you can only plug it in one way and can't turn the display through 180 degrees on the end of the stalk (which would solve that problem). For the price, I highly recommend you try it first though and only go for something more expensive if you really don't like it.
 
not sure if you can read USB sticks or not - I can in my 987.2 - copy itunes library onto USB stick, plug into USB slot and play from there - use iphone over bluetooth for phone calls and leave USB stick in there for music - works really well for me in my 987.2.
Otherwise you can use the ipod cable with converter to iphone lightning connector - but if you do the above you won't need to bother.


 
My trouble is about how to play iPhone music on Android phone. We know all purchased iPhone music from iTunes store are encrypted with fairplay DRM protection, it can be played on Apple devices only. If you eager to play Apple music on non-Apple devices like Google player, Samsung smart TV, etc. Maybe you can try Apple Music Converter Mac. As for me, the best way to play music in the car is following the fourth way by using Apple Music Converter for Mac to transfer my music files to USB flash drive and then stream music in the car via USB port in my car stereo. It doesn't need any extra tools and don't need a phone to make it possible. It's so easy to do this and listen to music in the car.

Not sure why this is a problem. When I had an Android phone, I connected it to my PC with a cable, copied and pasted all my iTunes music to the phone, it played fine.


 
For DRM music, you usually can only play them after authorization, so you may not play apple music on any iphone. But please just don't worry, you can use an apple audio converter to convert your audio files to DRM free MP3, then you won't have any problem on downloading your apple music. As I know, Apple Music is protected with DRM, making them not available for other devices here. If you'd like to transfer Apple Music to your PCM and Bose system. Another possible way is to convert Apple Music to MP3 for playing on iPhone by using DRmare Apple Music Converter for Windows. You can give it a try if you want.

The drm in iTunes media can be converted by settings, but the drm protection in Apple music seems to be only possible in this way.
