New member and picking first Porsche tomorrow!

Just thought I’d say hi!

I had been a devout Lotus lover for many a year, but as it’s now near impossible to get parts needed for the Excel to be a daily driver after 12+ I’m moving to the dark side!

My first Porsche will be a 996 C4S which I’m buying from MR911 In Keaton (Collecting tomorrow).

From the forums and YouTube, getting a 996 seems to be guaranteed financial ruin, however, MR911 (Clive) has been extremely helpful and gone out of his way to alley my fears - new ceramic IMS, new RMS, (and whilst there a new clutch), low temp thermostat and many other things... this plus 12 months personal warranty!

Can’t wait for the sports car grin to return... Happy Days!

Congratulations on your choice of C4S!

With all those ‘peace of mind’ additions you can relax and enjoy the car.

I also have a 2004 C4S and, like any car of that vintage, there will always be things to spend money on. So I also did the IMS etc.

My biggest expenditure to date has been in replacing the exhaust system ... but I splashed out the 3 grand on a PSE setup and it is a hoot! I plan to hold on to my C4S and enjoy it but to expect to pay out occasionally on maintaining it in great condition. For me, the C4S looks fantastic on the road and drives brilliantly ... calm in traffic and outrageous when you get an open road.

I have now now had my 996 C4 for 15 years and still love it, it gives me a lot of driving pleasure.

let us see some pictures of your new purchase and enjoy.

Welcome to the club and the wonderful world of the 996. The C4S is indeed a thing of beauty and it sounds like yours has been sorted so drive it and enjoy it.
Oh and dont feel embarrassed when you walk away from it and look back at it and smile. I still do it after seven years of 996 ownership.

Dont say that, Im still on a spend of new wax, buckets, underbody cleaner etc and upkeep gear only :)

Enjoy, Ive had mine since late Aug, so am still new myself.
 
What a day to pick up a new car! Probably just as well I went for the C4S!
Pleased with how well behaved the car drives around town and over our many bumps, AND left be how quickly it can change character when the right moment appears :)

looking forward to the weather clearing and giving her a good wash and polish :)
