Cayenne Rear Parking Sensors working intermittently

A couple of months ago my rear parking sensors started to fail intermittently, perhaps working 80% of the time. This success rate has now fallen to about 50% of the time. Given the age (o6 MY0 and mileage (114k), is this likely to be individual sensor failures or just terminals needing cleaning. If the latter, is this a reasonable diy job?
Thanks

A PIWIS or Durametric will tell you the exact problem, probably a sensor shorted or open, About £140 from Porsche, Vemo versions about £20. PU off job but easy enough DIY

Thanks for info. Not much of a DIY man but sounds like one for good auto electrician rather than OPC...

If you are willing to travel, I am in Hertfordshire and have the full Durametric Pro software so can easily plug that in and it should tell us the exact sensor which recorded the fault to not allow the system to work (e.g right hand side, outside sensor or whatever).

Pass me a private message to arrange.

Thanks
J

Just thought of another thing you can try, when the problem exhibits itself:

Car with ignition on and in drive or reverse selected (but engine not running), to activate the front or rear sensors and make the issue happen. When the system is showing red to tell you it will not operate due to fault, then get outside the vehicle and go to the front or back, whichever shows red on the inside parking indicators, then either listen or put your finger lightly on each sensor. You should be able to hear the ticking noise of each sensor as it pulses or may feel it with lightly touching finger on the sensor.
This will allow you to do a basic check to see if one or more sensor is not ticking/pulsing like the rest.

You could also record phone video footage at the same time whilst checking each one and calling out the position before putting the phone camera close to it which should pick up the ticking noise. Can then be reviewed in quieter surroundings to check which one's mid at fault.

thanks

Hi J,
Thanks for top tips, but went out this morning Sunday) and car wouldn't start: flat battery! Lights still working and starter motor turning over, slowly, but now waiting for recovery. Once that sorted will try your tests and contact you then.
Thanks,
Graeme
