2018 events - Simply Porsche at Beaulieu

Hi Charlie,
I noticed in the R17 Calendar of Events for 2018 that there's a Simply Porsche event at Beaulieu on Sunday 3 June. Do R17 members usually just make their own way there and park anywhere or do they travel in together and park as a group?
Thanks, Andrew.

Have you noticed that it clashed (as normal) with the annual Club BBQ and that it is organised by TIPEC? Really silly handbag waving scenario.

I'm going (it's a lot closer to Poole than Cotswolds), happy to tag up with others informally (I don't know if the Dorset region is going en masse....best I check!)

Yes, putting a lot of members in the unenviable position of having to choose every year between a fee sausage or 1000 Porsches does seem a bit unnecessary.

Incidentally, Simply Porsche is one of a number of ‘Simply’ events run annually by Beaulieu. TIPEC have adopted it as a national event in the same way as we have adopted the Silverstone Classic as ours.

There is a contingent coming from the Bournemouth area and meeting others at Rownhams services on the M27

But ....... they are, dare I mention, from the 911uk forum [:(]

Thanks Geoff!

Now I need to decide whether stay loyal to PCGB and join your convoy, join in with the Cayman Owners Club, or just make my own way there and be parked with the masses.

Surely it’s best to have more choice, or you’d be complaining that nothing was happening?
Both events are a great chance to enjoy your Porsches socially - whether PCGB or TIPEC.

Hi Andrew, noticed your comment re the Caymans Owners Club...is that something separate to the Cayman forum group within PCGB? I'm working out which group to plug into on the day too!
Cheers
Craig

That’s the point though. Having something organised so that it clashes with another major attraction year on year actually reduces the number of events that those able to reach both can attend. As ours is a BBQ perhaps the other should be seen as the vegetarian option!

I'm booked in to go to Beaulieu, hope it's better weather than it is now! Any one else in the Southampton area going? It will be my first Porsche event with the car.

Get yourself to Rownhams services westbound by 8.00am and meet at least 60 others heading for the show ;)

Adrian,

I’ll be going to Simply Porsche, you’re welcome to tag along with me, I’m not aware of any R17 convoy but in Porsche Post today I believe that it said there will be a R17/R26 parking area, however I’m considering joining the R26 Dorset region convoy the details of which are below....
Convoy meeting points:
0900 Forest Edge Shell Service station, Ringwood road, BH24 3HN
0920 Car park opposite Beaulieu road railway station B3056

I’m sure you’ll be welcome too.
Andrew

Andrew,

Thanks for the info & offer. However we live only 1 mile south of J5 M27, so the Rownhams Servs will be the most convenient for us. Probably not the most attractiv. I will PM my tel no so we can perhaps make contact easier at the event.

All the best, Adrian
