Front trunk trim help

Hi

I have an early 1990 964 with the carpet tgat attaches by popper (not velcro). I have some trim missing so the carpet doesnt attach at the front. I have bought the missing trim, a steering pump cover and the cover for the wheel jack however i cant see how to fit them and i also wonder if my battery is bigger than stock as that also seems to be one of the reasons why i cant fit the wheel jack cover. This is what my front trunk looks like. Anyone know of a fitting guide with pics or has a 964 near Teddington so i can come and have a look at how it is supposed to fit?

Thanks

Stephen

I have a '90 C2 (Cab) and whatever is fitted in the front n/s corner that sits above the corner of the battery isn't fitted in mine. So I think yours must be a C4 which means there are a few differences.

Yup, the C4, RS and Turbo have the high pressure hydraulic pump (for the C4 it also provides the PDAS hydraulic power). The plastic cover for this is fixed into position using the 3(?) self tapping studs on the body. 6mm (10mm spanner) plastic nuts hold the cover in place.

Don't think either of my 964's had the plastic cover for the jack. Maybe the way the battery -ve post terminal is fitted obstructs the fitting of the cover?

Any chance of a pic of where it goes? I thought it went above the battery so the battery didnt seem to be in the way of the pump cover (just the jack cover the battery looks to be blocking). However while i have the plastic nuts there dont seem to be anything for me to fix them on to. I might well have it in the wrong place though i’ve Only seem one pic of where it goes and only in the background so not sure i have it in the right place.

If my memory serves me correctly there was a drop down moulding with male poppers on my C4 over the ABS so the carpet went up at 90 degrees at the front and the poppers in the carpet fitted directly onto them.

Battery looks prefect fit so the hardboard base to the carpet lies flat across this and the high pressure brake housing.

I don't remember a separate cover for the jack, but that it was wrapped in a thick plastic wrap with tie cord.

I have one here, yours for a tenner!

Yes i tried that, there is nowhere to fix it to when i do that. The holes align with painted metal. I'm also not sure how that piece overlaps with the black trim on the top of the front truck where the lock is so not sure i have it in the right place. I was hoping a few pics or seeing another car would help me get it in the right place.

I found this pic on a car up for sale a lhd c4 and it looks like the pump cover might sit a bit higher on the c4.

David's pump cover is not where it should be, Dave?

The LHD pics are correct. That's how my cover fits - level with the top trim. End of the day, the cover can only fit where the three studs are located - if you're not tightening the three plastic 10mm nuts on to those then the trim cover is not located in the right place.

"C2's dont have one so you lot have me really confused now...."

Correct. The high pressure hydraulic boost system is fitted to the C4, RS, Cup, Turbo-look and Turbo variants only. The C2, Speedster and RSA's use the vacum boost system.

Hope that helps :)

Marcus

What I'm still struggling with is i appear to have nothing to fix the cover to. For example top left of this pic id need something to left of the bolt to fix cover too.
