Only joined PCGB last month, just getting round to posting a thread up about my car.

Its my first Porsche, umm'd and ahh'd for a few weeks and my wife talked me into would you believe !? :ROFLMAO:

2007 Meteor grey 987.1 Boxster 2.7
Bought it 11 months ago, private sale, previous buyer looked like he'd looked after it, spared no expense with OPC servicing.
And his dad owned it before him for the previous 7 years.
Full Porsche Centre service history, with all receipts, even tyre receipts and all the MOT's.
53k on the clock
PCM/nav, heated leather seats, climate control, sound package plus with upgraded Porsche amp, Carrera S 19" wheels

I had the car checked over upon purchase, no over revs which was reassuring, and amongst all the excitement of buying a Porsche I failed to realise the MOT ran out 2 weeks after I bought it.
Anyway clean bill of health at OPC Nottingham and then on to enjoying it!

Had both front a/c condensers replaced, as OPC noted n/s was weeping.
Also had all the exhaust clamps replaced.

Found the car a bit too quite for the first 3 months, then had Carnewal's modified genuine silencers fitted.
Wow !
Let's just say the car found its voice [:D]

Done one road trip with my 15yr old son so far, up to the North Yorks moors for a couple of days which was fantastic.
Blakey Ridge has got to be on your list of driving roads if you're ever up that area. (mind the sheep though)
Did the surrounding area, Whitby, Helmsley, Pickering etc etc

Saw loads of guys in 911s, Boxsters, Caymans, the lot, driving towards Whitby when we were coming back down, it was middle of last June.
Every one waved, I couldn't help feel we were missing out on something...we were definitely going the wrong way [:(]

Hoping to meet up with a few of you R4 and R8 region members in the coming weeks.

James

Great to hear you're enjoying your Boxster, James, and it looks like a lovely example.

We'd love to see you at the Region 8 meetings - they are on the first Monday of the month at the Coopers Arms, Weston on Trent. We have a lovely gang of like minded folk who can talk the hind legs off a donkey! We often meet at 7.00 to partake of the excellent Cooper's Carvery before the meeting starts.

I would love to hear the difference the Carnewal silencer has made. We have one on the 993 but my Boxster S just has the standard and, like you, I feel it could be better.

Coincidentally, our region WOTY (Weekend of the Year) is planned for the Whitby area in September. Have a look on the Region 8 calendar to find out more info on the various outings we have planned.

We look forward to welcoming you. [:)]

Laura

Thanks Laura

I'm actually closer to Lincoln than Nottingham, so I'm going to try and get involved in both R8 and R4.

Will certainly try the Coopers arms with you guys, and I'll show you the difference the Carnewal has made.

Thanks for the welcome, I had the WOTY email last night but I can't make those dates - I was gutted :-(

See you guys soon [8D]

My first Porsche was a 1998 2.5 Boxster. The Boxster/Cayman models are a great introduction to the marque.

Thanks Cliff, I'm enjoying it a lot.

A weekend in the Yorkshire Dales coming up, can't wait.

Hope to catch up with you guys soon

Its everything I expected it to be. Thinking 911 next time, but I think it would have to be a convertible/targa.

Mrs says I should keep this for 3/4 years.

Very happy with it for the time being.

Can't wait for the drier weather.

Heres the genuine Porsche Sports twin tailpipe I bought

[attachment=twin tailpipe.jpg]

Worked out about ÂŁ245, but included a new clamp which was split on the old one.

First thing I did was wipe it over with Panel Wipe and then applied a layer of Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour, which is great for high temps and metalwork.

The original oval pipe is 'spare' in the garage now, all cleaned up and polished for whenever.

And fitted, just in time for the North Yorks moors road trip

Pootling along Blakey Ridge quite happily and a Ferrari 430 Scuderia 16M shot past us :p

Only a short vid, you can hear me drop a gear and put my toe down a bit more, then you hear his exhaust as he drops a gear !!!!

I didn't even try to keep up with him - too many sheep.

60mph along the ups and downs and lefts and rights of that road is plenty, and I should promote safe, law abiding yet enjoyable driving [;)]

That's a fine looking car James, congratulations, I test drove many Boxsters (and was gazumped on a couple I offered to buy), even the ropey ones put a smile on my face. I ended up a landing a 57 reg Cayman S 10 months ago, and also went the Carnewal route...... it certainly transformed the engine note, along with a couple of other mods that have transformed some aspects of performance. The club is a great way to meet others and enjoy events.....and nice video!

Cheers

Thanks Craig.

My Carnewal crackles and pops on demand, upshifts, downshifts the lot.

Makes every journey an occasion.

When the exhaust was stock, I thought you could hear more engine/ exhaust noise with the roof closed rather than open, now its completely the opposite.

Roof down is ridiculous fun.

I expect the Carnewal tends to be louder on the Boxster to ensure you get a decent amount of volume on the Cayman with it being a coupe and insulated (as theyre the same exhaust)

Its great on a long run at motorway speeds too though, money well spent.

Nice car, and the Fox & Hounds at Sinnington is a favorite of ours, just up the road for us.

If you are near Lincoln, put the PCGB track day at Blyton Park in your diary, it is a great day.

Friday 25th May, you will find the details in track day section. As safe and relaxed as a track day gets.

I am being selfish of course, as I really want to hear your Carnewal, back to back with mine, before I drive over to Gert.

Edit... just gone to book the Blyton Track Day on 25th May and found we are on holiday... aaaaaaghh

Yes I'm close to Lincoln, and the in-laws live 10mins away from Blyton [:)]

I can't make the track day either [:(]

You're more than welcome to have a listen to mine when you're near Lincoln, drop me a message.

I had new tyres fitted a couple of weeks ago.

The Bridgestone RE050A's were worn on the front, so all four had to go, time for replacements.

RE050A rears still have 4mm of tread, and are good - so they're in the garage ready to put up for sale.

Replaced with Michelin Pilot Sport SP2 N2's

Fronts

I like these because they have plenty of rim protection, similar to the RE050A's

Ride is a bit quieter, steering is much easier at low speed.

Not driven them in anger yet so will give an honest opinion in due course.

Rears...

Me and my son did our mini Yorkshire Dales road trip at the weekend.

Went from Nottingham, through Wetherby, Skipton, Ottley, Settle, lunch at the Black Horse at Giggleswick, Ribblehead Viaduct, Hawes and the Buttertubs Pass to the Tan Hill Inn (highest pub in England). (...and breathe...:ROFLMAO:) Through rain, sun, snow and fog.

Car was great. Loved it.

Need to download the photos off my camera and I'll post up some shots.

Took the GoPro and got footage of us driving the Buttertubs Pass and Tan Hill so will leave it to my son to upload them on Youtube and I'll put the links up.

I had continentals on my 987.1

i put michelin pilot sport on after 7k miles

afterwards it was like a different car - chalk and cheese

brilliant tyres
