‘Lights On’ alarm advice

Evening All!

I like having my lights on whilst driving during the day but keep forgetting to turn them off when I park up, resulting in an embarrassing trip back to the car when some kind passer-by lets me know.

Has anyone managed to hook up the dashboard mounted buzzer/alarm to do this? If so, what’s needed?? I’m guessing some kind of relay linked to the light switch and ignition??

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers
james

Something tells me that the lights-on buzzer relay was indeed fitted by Porsche for other countries. I believe the wiring is already there. Not 100% certain but I recall a reference to it (by country model and maybe even by year of manuf). Have a feeling the relay location was suggested as being under the dash - somewhere among the spaghetti of harness cabling.

Be interested to see what you find.

Quite an easy mod with aftermarket parts between light switch and door mounted switch.

Thanks for that.. I looked on Rennlist and found a number for a part which may work.. Have ordered it and will update when it arrives!

Cheers,
James

This is the post i found on rennlist.. Part has been ordered...

It appears that non chimed cars have a R12 bridge Part Number 964.610.184.01 under the left hand side of the dashboard (I gather that's for LHD cars, maybe different for RHD). Changing this with part number 928.618.103.03 adds a chime.

I work for Porsche Cars GB and the tech guys have confirmed this should work so we'll see!!

Cheers,
J

Very useful to know - thanks for the part #

You able to check with the tech guys if it is a universal chime relay - i.e. can be fitted to a 968 or other? The 928 part number suggests it's been around for a while (potentially 10 years before the 964).
