This is sponsored with Porsche hospitality .... tickets are on a first come first served basis from Steve Kevlin at Motorsport ... what a great excuse to break out the early 911 !

Hi Chris,
Just carried out a search and picked up your thread. We usually do one or two European trips each year and this year we thought we would try the Oldtimer GP for a change. I cannot find out much about it on-line. Arranged trips are available from Travel Destinations, Grandstand and Fasttrack (and probably others) but none of them seem to have an on site presence and they give no information on the racing, on site parking or hospitality. It hardly seems worth booking through them.
I wondered if you have actually been to this event and whether you, or anyone else can offer some advice.

Many thanks.

Hi,

Have been going to this event for the last 9 years and it is amazing. However this year I would like to be on of the cars that is parked on the track, with some Porsche hospitality.

Would anyone be able to point me in the correct direction please?

PM me if you can help.

Cheers

Thanks Hacki, good to cross paths with you again.
I went with my Brother in Law and we had a great time.
We took the GT4 (the '73 911S had a crack in the oil tank which would not braze and was sweating ... and we then had to wait for a new one to arrive) we just could not take the chance on driving it there and back.
Porsche hospitality was very very good, and the cars were a joy to behold ... which we did, a lot !

I would highly recommend it ...particularly if linked to a Spa track day or visit to Koln or Stuttgart or ???

It's definitely worth the drive from the UK.

What's the event like? Think 'half way' between the (over) huge size and (over) corporate sheen of Le Mans Classic, and the accessibility and lo-fi appeal of Spa 6 Hours.

A group of us went in 2016, here's a thread about our trip: http://www.ddk-online.com...708&hilit=oldtimer

We're going there again this year. They usually hold a 'classics only' touristenfahrten session on the Nordeschleife that weekend, we're keeping our fingers crossed they do it again this yer...

I can definately reccomend this event but you really need to be part of the Porsche Clubs package to be fully immersed.
We used to go every year but have not recently because it is now quite expensive although good value for money. The hospitality is second to none, the access to the paddock and pits and even the pit wall is very good. The Porsche hospitality is open from Friday PM untill Sunday afternoon. You could camp in the huge trackside campsite which is noisy or in one of the many hotels around the circuit. usually fully booked early on but if you like a drive there are many hotels in the Mosel valley.
Not going this year, we are off to see the Mille Miglia stopping off at Turin for a group drive round the FIAT Lingotto roof top test track and staying in Tuscany, of course in the 1973 911
Sorry can't show photos, dont know how to on this new Forum.

Robin .. how many years have you been running that 2.4S now ? I'm getting on for 16 years with mine so you must be well in excess of that . Great to hear it's still being used in anger

Hi James, I have owned my 73 2.4S since October 1982 so that means nearly 37 years and it is now just under 500000 km on the clock. We have just returned from a trip to Italy to see the Mille Miglia in the 911S so another 3500miles on the clock.
I also arranged a drive round the rooftop test track at the old Fiat Lingotto factory for our group, which was something special. Porsche Club GB Porsches doing our own version of the Italian Job
