It brings me great sadness to inform you that long time R7 member Richard Hunter passed away over the weekend. I am sure that this will be as shocking and upsetting for many as it was for us. We send all our love and condolences to Richard's family who many of you will know.

Richard and his stunning Turquoise 993 turbo were well known through out the Region and Club as a whole. Richard and his son Paul have probably attended more factory visits than anyone else, regularly driving their cars back to the factory.

Richard was like a farther figure to the Region over the many years that he was a member, having been closely involved with Strasse and many Club events and activities. When we first took over as Regional Organisers he could be relied upon for his advice and knowledge of how the Region ran. He was always on hand for helping to put up our annual show, then at Harewood House, onsite early the day before.

Richard will be sadly missed and long remembered.

Sad news, I remember talking to Richard at various shows and admiring his car for many years.
Condolences to all his family at this sad time.

Regards
Dean

As a new member I hadn’t met Richard but he was clearly a member of some standing.
I send my most sincere condolences to all of his family.

Sad news indeed, Richard fielded some of my 993 related questions when I first got my car.
My condolences to his family.

So sad news - I will miss the friendly banter we had every time we saw each other at club nights and events.
Condolences to all his family.

Mark,

Thanks for letting people know of my dads death.

He was a club member for 25 years having joined in 1993 so he could go on his first trip to the factory. The factory visits were his only holidays having established his own company in 1974, and we have been on many in the intervening 25 years, his last was in May of last year when I took him as a 70th birthday present. He even missed his Silver wedding Anniversary to go on one!

I'd also like to thank any members of the club who considered my dad their friend for their friendship.

In particular I'd like to thank the people that I know he considered to be his good friends who he knew through Porsche ownership and the club, who are in no particular order:
Dave Forrest and David Sunderland of Strasse, Steve Robinson and Ian McKay from the early factory trips, Keith and Julie Layden, Team Equippe Hamster (comprising of Ali Young, Simon Bentley, Graham Budge, Simon Butterworth, Ian Banneville, David Sass), Ian and Sharon Gilmour and Daniel and Amanda Holmes. Apologies if I've missed anyone off.

He always enjoyed taking the mickey out of Randolph and his water cooled 911's and his ability to eat bacon butties at the Big Breakfast meets.

He was a confirmed luddite when it came to his choice of cars, it had to have an engine in the back and be cooled by air. He could never forgive Ali Young for selling his 993 C4S and getting a 996, although he was a great friend to Richard Ali never dared tell him that he's bought a Maclaren!

He loved his Turkish Blue 993 turbo, he had owned it for 20 years and cherished it. If he could be buried in it I'm sure he would be, but I don't think the vicar would be best pleased!

Thanks for the kind words, my eldest son shown in that picture is nearly 11 now and has inherited his grandads and my enthusiasm for cars. It helps that his grandad gave him a real car when he was only a few months old (although not a Porsche - a Rover mini Cooper, my other automotive passion after Porsches).

A date hasn't been set yet for his funeral, but when it is I'll post it on here and on the R7 Facebook page, as any member who'd like to come will be very welcome.

Paul

Thanks Frank, and thanks for phoning my mum, she really appreciated it.

My dad' funeral will be on Wednesday 7th at the village church in Bramham at 1pm.

Very sad to hear this news.

Richard was often at Strasse in Leeds and at the Yorkshire Porsche Festival.

Will be missed.

I'd like to thank the R7 members that attended my dads funeral yesterday on behalf of my mum and I. I hope I spoke to all who came, if I missed speaking to anyone sorry as it was all a bit of a blur.

Paul
