Advice on LED lights with PDLS +

Interested in people’s experience with these.
3 months into life with a 2014 GTS which has upgraded lights compared to my previous Panamera 4. Good lights and the High Beam Assist seems to work well most of the time but on occasions it raises the beam inappropriately e.g. sometimes on dual carriageways, when it may trouble drivers on opposite carriageway. These circumstances can be anticipated but my query is how do you manage to control the HBA operation ?
My understanding is once HBA is selected it can only be deselected via the stalk if it is already active ( ie blue headlight light up on dash). This seems a bit catch22 since in order to switch HBA off it needs to be carrying out the action you are trying to avoid i.e. main beam.
The only other choice would appear to be select Manual from Auto headlights via the dash switch which involves transitioning through sidelights....

Am I missing something ? How do other owners use this function in practice - let HBA do its thing, be poised to hit the stalk if inappropriate headlight action or just leave deselected ?

thanks
stephen
