928 Rental?

Hi guys,

This might be quite a strange post however please bear with me...
My father used to own a Porsche 928 in the 1980's, he is an absolute petrolhead and out of all the cars he's owned the 928 seems to be the favourite. I'm kinda stumped as to what Christmas present to get him this year apart from jumpers and socks[:D]
The idea popped into my head to ask on the forum and find out if there were any owners that would be willing to rent their car out for the day?

We actually go on holiday on the 24th of December so we will be celebrating Christmas on the 23rd, my idea is that I collect the car on the night of the 22nd and return it in the afternoon of the 23rd.
Obviously these cars are going to be the pride and joy of their respective owners, and I'm sure not many people will want to just lend their car out to a stranger on a forum. I am happy to leave my car and my Rolex watch along with my driving licence, passport and utility bills with the owner of the car as security.

If there are any 928 owners who would be kind enough to lend me their car for the day I'm sure that my father would be absolutely ecstatic at even the sight of one haha, please drop me a PM or reply to the thread if this is something you would be interested in and I will more than happily discuss this in further detail.

I'm not to sure if this is the best place on the forum for this thread, so moderators please move it if need be.

Thanks
-Taran :)

Hi Taran, probably the right place but it may help if you let us know whereabouts in the country you live.

Ah yes that would probably be helpful haha, I live in Portsmouth, however I wouldn't mind travelling to collect the car. Obviously they are quite rare so I'm not expecting one to pop up locally :)

So I've had a quick dig through the photo's archive and managed to find a photo of one of his 928's. From memory he's owned two 928's. As much as I would to trace the history of this car, he no longer owns the private registration A20 JLA. Having done some research the DVLA seems to be incredibly unhelpful in tracing the cars that a private numberplate has been assigned to. Would've been interesting to find what happened to the car after all these years.

It's probably not the best photo however I have tried to take the best quality photo I could, I like to think of myself as a bit of a petrolhead however I'm stumped as to which model 928 this is. I do think it was a manual.
