Any Other Boxster RS60 Spyder Owners

Hi , I purchased a RS60 Boxster in May 2017 after owning a 2000 986 for three years. I was wondering how many other RS60 spyders there are in the club , I would like to know how many are still owned in the UK.
I love the car and would be interested in hearing from other owners and their experiences with the model.

You may be in a very exclusive club ,not many RS60 around , a couple on PH for  sale at present .No idea as to how many members in PCGB perhaps Tracy & Cliff the RO's  of the Boxster Register will know.
There was one on display in 2016  on the Spyder section of the Silverstone Classic .I had a 550 Spyder in 2004 and fortunate to have a 987 and 981 Spyder  very special cars .

Thanks for your response , good idea I will E mail Tracy to see if she can find out how many RS60 owners in the club. Would be good to have a list of the limited edition numbers still around in UK.

    World wide 1960 units
    Take a look at www.stillontheroad.co.uk
    Club members listed  32
Maybe not be  exact numbers of club members as people sometimes forget to register or remove themselves when they sell.

Thanks Cliff.   184 either taxed or SORN in UK.  Would be interested to know the limited edition  numbers of the cars registered with the club .  Anyone owning one please post your  cars number and your experience of the model.

I owned RS60 Spyder #1930 from June 2010 to November 2013 when I part exchanged it for a 981 Cayman S at PC Hatfield.  I don't know what happened to it after that.  I enjoyed driving it but, as usual, got bored after a while and fancied something else.  The Cayman lasted a little over 2 years until I bought a 981 Boxster Spyder in 2016.  If I could have owned both the Cayman and the Spyder at the same time I would have done as the Cayman was a great car but finances meant that It had to go.  I don't know what happened to it either!

No.604 owned since Oct 17.   Love the way it drives and the PSE.  Slowly discovering the bits that need sorting from previous owners use !
Hate the way it attracts gravel rash! and surprised at how old some of the engineering is. Thought manual adjustment hand brake and flat battery if not used after a week were left behind when we came out of the seventies.
Puts a smile on my face though.

A lot of Porsches suffer from the flat battery  if not used on a regular basis .The Ctek /Lidl charger seems the best route if garaged up over a period .If no garage then it may be difficult to do this ,heard some use the solar pack to keep battery toped up .I keep mine on a permanent charge through out the year

Thanks snerw0n ,  my car is garaged when not in use and I use the CTEK charger /Conditioner and have had no starting issues to date.  ( see charger post ) .
Have had no niggles since my purchase in May 2017 , love the car and can't wait for the weather to improve so I can bring it out of winter storage.

RS60 owner here! Have had it for almost 3 years and it's a great car. I am currently itching for a 981 but the Spyder is really special so I hope I'm not disappointed. We've had two epic trips around the Highlands in it which really showed it off to best advantage.

Hi Andy , thanks for your post. Glad you are enjoying the car. Do you mind if I ask your limited edition number . I am just curious as to the LE numbers in the club.

My 981 is garaged and rarely out in these winter months.  I am interested in the CTEC charger/conditioner as sold by the Club, (it looks very similar to the Porsche Charge o mat but about half the price), will it charge via the 12v power outlet (cigarette lighter) socket and would you recommend it?

Would recommend the charger. I purchased one from Lidl for £15.  Have wired it to the battery and run the cable under the rim to the wiper area, there is a plastic cover that you can pop off, so that all I have to do is plug the two ends together. It needed some modification to the leads supplied as I wanted the end cover for the plug to be on the end of the lead wired to the battery so that the plug had a water resistant cap as it was live,(just a case of cutting and swapping the leads, not good for the warranty of the charger though) When its pushed into the base of the wiper fixing and the plastic covers back on, invisible !

Have had my Boxster on CTek charger / Condtioner since late Oct , no issues at all , connected directly to battery using the connections. I have started three times over the winter , no problems started first time. So far would highly recommend.

Why did you choose to connect to battery rather than cigarett light socket Which seems simple?  Did you connect to positive terminal of the battery and the ground connection rather than negative terminal as descrobed in owners manual for jump lead connection? Also I’ve seen cetc s with different outputs, ratings etc and mention of chargers for different battery types (agm or adm or similar).
im not hugely tech so do not want to buy the wrong thing and do any damage!
